Do I have a better chance of getting hired with MDPD if I'm a criminal?

I'm just now turning in my application with MDPD. I came across the question on the application. "Have you ever been arrested or plead guilty to any crime"?

If I answer yes, do you think I would have a better chance of getting hired?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Should I refer this question to PCB?

I have one Felony arrest conviction, and one that I beat the charges. I heard this department will hire with me. Is this true? I thought only Ops Locka did that. I would probably look better in the mirror in a brown uniform.
