    Attention Mary Blasi

This is a reminder of how long it's going to take for the Grand Jury to get to our case and per the State Attorney's Office, there are still 12 yet to be presented. Please put our guys back on the road and show them support. Let's make some decisions and move forward as a department.

Grand jury clears 5 officers in two separate 2012 shootings

A grand jury has cleared a total of five officers involved in separate 2012 shootings that fatally wounded a 73-year-old security guard in Lauderhill and a bank robber in Pompano Beach.
According to the Broward State Attorney's Office, the same grand jury reviewed both cases late last month.
In September 2012, Earl Brown called police to report a prowler near the International Global Metals recycling facility in the 1700 block of Northwest 31st Avenue, where he worked for 35 years. Officers Matthew Maguire, Ryan Pearlman and Edward McCormick encountered the armed Brown about 2:05 a.m. and opened fire. Brown was hit once and later died from the injury.
According to Lauderhill police Maj. Rick Rocco, the officers appeared before the grand jury on May 21 and subsequently were found justified in the fatal shooting. Their attorney could not be reached for comment late Tuesday.
Last year, Brown's widow received a settlement of $300,000 from the city of Lauderhill. According to an obituary, Brown was married to his wife, Gloria, for 31 years and during his life ran a grocery store, gas station and restaurant. He also owned a beauty salon, beauty supply store and a security company.
On Nov. 2, 2012, deputies shot and killed Michael J. Webb who, authorities say, targeted the same Chase bank in Pompano Beach for the third time. Known as the "counter jumper" for crossing tellers' counters, Webb ran off when he encountered bulletproof glass in his way.
Webb, 56, led deputies on a chase along Interstate 95 where a detective tapped the rear fender of Webb's pickup, causing it to spin and roll over near a sound barrier wall.
Authorities say Webb crawled out of the wreckage with a handgun. Gregory Lose and Timothy Roberts, of the Broward Sheriff's Office, spotted the weapon and shot him, authorities said.
Webb was the head janitor at LA Fitness in Deerfield Beach and had been promoted to facilities supervisor shortly before the robbery attempt and subsequent fatal shooting.
According to the State Attorney's Office, there are currently 12 pending police-involved shootings to be reviewed by a grand jury. The last time an officer was found unjustified in a fatal shooting in Broward Countywas in 1980.
