    Pay Scale

If you steal from the casino we arrest you. If you steal from an Indian we arrest you. If you steal from the police department we fire you. When the Depratment steals from their officers, nothing is done and no explanation is given. Let me explain. In January of this year, after the failed attempt to get us 20% put into our 401K in lieu of a retirment, we are told we finally get a pay scale. Everybody is told we are now on a step plan and some officers pay is slightly adjusted. No one sees the pay scale, we are not allowed to see to that information. Finally at a meeting with the Chief he passes around the pay scale and does not allow people to take photos of it or copy it. All the new officers marvel in delight that the starting pay is $ 51,000. Then the pay scale is leaked. This is what we know. Officers are not getting paid the amount they should be according to the pay scale. We have 5-7 year officers on pay step 2. We have Detectives that have been here 10 years making the same as a 4th year officer. we have sergeants with over 12 years of experience making the same as a 6th year officer. For me personally, I should be making $6,000 more than what I do now. That's $ 500 a month!. I have a good friend that is being underpaid nearly $10,000 a year. You may ask how does this happen. Why did the police department not plug officers salaries in to match their years of service. Here's why. The police department may have a step plan but the seminole Tribe dosent. the tribe does not give pay raises every year. If gaming revenues are down, no raise. I have only received 1 raise in the past five years. So how does this effect the step plan. The police department does not advance you a step if the tribe does not grant a raise. So although we have a 10 year step plan, it may take you 30 years to get to top out pay. This from one of the largest and most successful gaming businesses in the world. Maybe all the money that they save by under paying us can be put back into the 6 digits that was stolen from the evidence room. It's funny if the attorneys ever learned of how the department mishandles money they would be filing motion after motion to get those casino theft cases dropped. You can't steal from the officer's and allows officers to use the evidence room as their personal piggy bank and expect us to go out there and care for our community by arresting anyone who steals from the Indians. Chief I believe you need to come out of hiding and address this crisis.

YEP absolutely right. However just remember SPD constantly VIOLATES OFFICERS BILL OF RIGHTS and instead of addressing serious issues head on , hides behind SPD Indian Affairs as sovereign nation, only accountable to the Indians and no one else. Look deep my fellow LEO's and you will see a common denominator.. lets see insurance fraud and cover up of accidents in multiple jurisdictions and when told of impending arrests they FIRED OFFICERS and LEAKED the case.. .. blame property room issues on officer and civilian one out of 2 gone.. because of failed policies.. makes one go HMM what else is SPD HIDING.. OH EVERYTHING!

Let's stay on topic. Why are we getting paid so low. Why did we hire so many new captains this year but cannot fill road patrol squads. why do we have such a large homeland security unit? Our homeland security unit has 4 detectives, a sergeant, a lieutenant, a captain, 3 civilians, and one civilian manager. 11 people that do nothing. So if we have a homeland security unit why do we have a threat response unit. Are terrorists not considered threats? Oh that's right they fight the drug problem. With one sergeant, and one detective for 7 reservations. I remember the chief saying he would constantly evaluate the department and make changes as necessary to better our agency. Seems like there is a big embalance with the threat response unit and the homeland security unit. I mean besides none of these detectives doing anything because they are underpaid, when was the last time we were targeted by jihadists? The casino is a blizzard with all the coke there and Indians overdose weekly. According to our chief 50% of the tribe is hooked on drugs. Yet despite the rampant drug problem we have one detective on the hunt for drugs. No terrorist attacks or threats and we have 11 people in the unit. Just doesn't make sense. Kinda like our pay scale. Chief speak up. Mitchell is back!

Obviously you don't get it.. SPD does what they want regardless of what you and the officers think and deserve. If they could SPD would be gone and they would hire rent a cops.. The Chief.. and any Chief is just a figure head and cannot do anything.. look at what they did to Tiger! So if you aren't happy.. find another agency.. nothing will ever change here!

Also, do you get take home cars? How far can you take them, is there a limit or take them home regardless of where you live in relation to your assignment?

look at what they did to Candle Box and Mobile Mike. Both had contract with the Tribe and the tribe reneged on both. go to Boycott Hard Rock on Facebook and read about it. the tribe use seminole police to enforce them reneging on contract. When Indian want to take their land back that they leased to a business. They evict them. When the business try go to court they cry foul and call in SPD to evict them. tribe break a contract with a business and then uses the police department that they do not honor a pay chart with to get rid of them. Who coined the term Indian giver?
