    Ask the PBA

Tony Alfero: For many months now the PBA has been expanding its legal team. We have let officers and deputies hand pick the attorney they want to represent them. We have also expanded the "on-call" attorney list. If an on-call attorney responds to an incident at night, that attorney might or might not be the attorney that represents a deputy or officer during the following legal or disciplinary proceedings. Many deputies and officers throughout the county specifically request Mr. Alfero. If Mr. Alfero is requested, he will be assigned to their case. Mr. Alfero is a tough nosed attorney who fights for his client rights. So much so that some on the administrative side do not like him. We will remove Mr. Alfero from the BSO call out list for a time but we will NOT limit his ability to represent a deputy if the deputy requests him.

FED Investigation: The "other guys" have stooped to a new low. They are now making wild accusations about money that was collected for a fallen officer and given to his family. The money was collected by that officers agency NOT by the Broward PBA. The fallen officers son is seeking legal action against the person/s that have indicated that there is ANY wrong doing. The family is very distraught that there is even a suggestion of wrong doing after how well they were treated by the PBA when the incident took place. You will be hearing from them via the Broward PBA social media very soon. Any just so we are clear, the agency in question is NOT under Federal Investigation and neither is the Broward PBA.

Ask the PBA: We see that occasionally responses are posted that don't come from us. If it isn't from "Ask the PBA" then don't believe the answer.

PERC Vote: The PBA is currently trying to expedite the vote in any way possible. You have spoken and we have listened. We haven't made any empty promises that we can't keep and the "other guys" have to plan to get you anything that you don't already have. The PBA is and always has been the voice of law enforcement in Florida and we look forward to having it stay that way in the future.

You may be the voice of Law enforcement, but we haven't heard a thing you said. But if you tell us where to get some kettle corn that would be great

Fed investigation: since no names were ever mentioned at the meeting, how could the family seek legal action? If the story were not true, you would not know whO IUPA was talking about.

So the above statement was clearly a lie, now two weeks later you are finally admitting that Alfero will not be responding to call outs for BSO. It's hard to believe you are trying to blame the BSO administration for this. The PBA and Mr Alfero have gotten some Deputies in more trouble then was warranted. Alfero handling of the North Lauderdale case almost got a Lt., Sgt. And Deputy punished for no reason other then Mr. Alfero own ego. I'm glad the BSO administration finally put him and the PBA in check. And it's about time you finally admitted the truth.

    Ask the PBA

Tony Alfero: No the response was not a lie. Tony is an active attorney for the PBA. There is a difference between call-outs and representing members. Please do not attempt to change our responses to fit your needs. If you want a specific answer then ask a specific question and we will do our best to answer.

Feds: We are adults. We know who they were talking about and the family is extremely upset. The LAST thing that should be done is tell lies concerning the family of a fallen officer. It will be addressed.

you have us all scared PBA....I'm curled up in a ball again like when you said the contract would have to start from step 1 again...Wahhhhhh wahhhhh. I'm sure when IUPA slaps the PBA like the ***** they are you'll file some sort of lawsuit trying to overturn the ballot count instead of just taking it on the chin, selling the PBA office and meeting hall and moving into a shack in area 2 to save money that you'll lose when IUPA comes in.

Certain TOP level members of the PBA were at North Broward hospital this week and spoke to Deputy Riveras family. The TOP level offered financial support for RIveras family since they incurred unexpected financial expenditures flying to Florida. The dollar amount was not large but it is the thought that counts. After finding out that Deputy Rivera was not a PBA member, that offer to the family was taken back.

The TOP level PBA subjects were scolded by the administration for a low class act of offering the family money and then telling them that we can no longer give it to you. Like I said, the amount was not large (few hundred) but that is besides the point. After making the offer, the PBA should have said, oops, we goofed but we will have to eat this one. But the PBA did not. Only after the administration bashed the PBA did the two TOP level PBA personnel take money out of their own pocket and give it to the family.

This entire accident is sad enough but to find out that the PBA stooped to taking money back from the family after realizing they made an error is beyond explanation. SHAME on you.

Lets see if the PBA will respond to this!!! I do agree that if he wasn't a member his family shouldn't have received the money but the PBA should have checked this out before making the offer. Once the offer is made you follow through, you don't back out. I'm sure the PBA will say nothing and not respond or just flat out deny this ever happened. Let's see...what do u say pba???

we must tell the new hired guys what happened....I know I'll be placing a letter in everyone's mailbox in Pompano about it
