    Patrol

Patrol is the backbone of the agency, yet patrol officers are the 1st to get screwed. It wouldn't appear that no one in admin gives a $h!t. When was the last time any of them covered a shift, took a report or investigated anything.
Now patrol has to cover for sro and transport, where is cid? That's right, hiding at the college picking and choosing what they want to do and investigate. We can't even get them to respond to a call out, patrol gets told to handle it. Don't they get paid an extra $1500, for what, to claim they are on call.
What happened to the officer chief claimed would be helping cover shifts when patrol was short? Can't claim he is doing important accreditation work when they are doing investigation work at Port Richey PD. Besides we all know accreditation is a joke and not going to happen because admin can't follow their own policies (give a trainiee a take home veh. Violation of policy #605.60). And that's just 1 example.
What happened to the strategic plan, the PBTs, the gun lights, the training?
Need shift coverage, move the officer with the lowest seniority to fill in on nights, then move the one with the lowest seniority in cid to cover days.

    What do you expect?

You work somewhere where an old retired guy who couldn't get hired at Walmart as a door greeter, applied to be chief of police and got hired there instead.
The strategic plan was a great way for "that guy" to have an open forum with hand picked officers (the ones who didn't know any better) and certain hand picked citizens. The plan has numerous officers tasked with accountability of certain aspects of the plan. This would work great...... If the officers still worked there. Half of them either quit or got fired.
Yes someday you will get a pbt, flashlight and maybe even a raise however if you're expecting change..... You're going to have to be the one who makes the changes.
7 years that guy has had.
What difference does anyone really see?
    Anyone?

Your agency had the opportunity to make change and they did not want too! They hired a local good old boy and I was in fact told this directly! Prior post 8/2014. Too Bad.. this guy really loved police work and didn't let anyone stand in his way for change.. DPD lost out!

Dade City had the opportunity to select someone with 25 plus years experience in a major agency, someone who worked the streets, midnights, detective bureau, homicide unit, and crisis negotiation unit among many others. Someone who never cared about politics and always did the right thing for his troops..and the city at large.. as long as you worked and didn't hide under a tree.. That person was in the top 3 candidates.. and that person was told clearly from someone on the panel... that "if Dade City wanted to change they would go with that south Florida selection.. but if they wanted a local good old boy".. well you all know that answer..

Not only did the south candidate come with a plan for the future.. he gave the people on the panel his plan for the future.. once again.. I guess the local goods old boy won out !

This is a fact and not just a made up story.. and the one who knows was the person on the panel from the West Coast City ...
