Deputy Frank Bybee sues Sheriff Thomas M. Knight

Deputy Frank Bybee has sued Sheriff Tom Knight, an RV company and its owners, claiming he was improperly demoted after criticizing the RV business on TV.

Deputy Frank Bybee was demoted from detective to patrol deputy after speaking poorly of Conley RV Inc. in a TV interview. Bybee contends that Knight was contacted by the Conleys — who he claims are political supporters of Knight.

“A political supporter [of Tom Knight] has been vilified in the public eye with truthful information that Frank gave about how his RV was mishandled,” Bybee’s attorney, Craig Berman, told the Herald-Tribune. “That’s why Knight came down so hard on Frank.”

Bybee is seeking payment for damages of more than $15,000 in the civil suit filed against Knight, Jeffrey Conley, Roger Conley and Conley RV Inc.

The issue dates back to last September, when Bybee posted a video on YouTube, saying that his RV had been burglarized and vandalized while awaiting repairs at Conley RV Inc. in Bradenton.

San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr said a captain is among seven officers who have been suspended and face being fired for trading bigoted text messages with a convicted former police sergeant.

“Their conduct is incompatible with that of a police officer and I believe causes them to fall below the minimum qualifications required,” Suhr told reporters today.

Video documentation is actually a very intelligent thing to do. The video is well made. It does a good job documenting the burglary and the damage. If the documentation pissed off the RV owner (and Knight) - it just shows what a corrupt in-bred area we live in.

Bybee made a false statement to supervisors regarding the time of the interview and that he was absent from work without approval from a supervisor.
