This will never happen at HCSO because we need to look pretty in our white shirts. God forbid beards.

Yes. God forbid. It's much easier to just be ordered to donate to the Ranch Run and the United Way and HCSO Charities and every other damn charity that wants money every year and be told that you're a bad person and not a team player if you refuse.

College Preppy HCSO
For those that don't already know or have their heads buried in the sand, HCSO has become quite the joke of a law enforcement agency among the chatter at other area agencies and even many further away. It doesn't take long for non-hcso leo's to see how many state certified potential applicants, many of whom were current leo's elsewhere, got treated or turned away because they did not fit the current college preppy mold mindset that this administration has put into place.
It's absurd that this office, being as dangerously shorthanded as it is on the street and elsewhere within the office, actively turns away good solid working leo's because they understandibly, refuse to have to go through a ridiculous boot camp and full HCSO taught police academy AGAIN? Or others turned away because they have recently smoked cigarettes, have a tatoo out of place, a blemish on their credit history or a traffic ticket on their driving record etc.
It's this type of utter nonsense as well as arrogance at the top and other positions within this administration that have caused so many good deputies and supervisors to retire early or go elsewhere all together. Not to mention the obvious loss of so many potentially great deputy candidates who could hit the streets running with prior leo or military experience.
Nobody learns common sense in a classroom or by reading a textbook in college. HCSO used to have a incredible reputation and used to hire people who grew up wanting to be a cop and had the common sense & charisma needed for this job visible on their face and how they naturally put the TEAM aspect ahead of their personal needs or goals. Now it's basically become a office driven by this "all about me" mentality and no longer a family type atmosphere where the work can be fun instead of stressful and nothing but going from call to call due to the reasons mentioned above.

When all the college preppy types eventually realize what a crappy pension they have (30 years of service or age 60) they will not be around long. Not when you can go to TPD or another city and get 20 and out.

First off as stated no applicants who were LE elsewhere want to go though all that bullshit SOT or the academy again, so they go elsewhere. Hillsborough SO is NOT the top dog anymore and not worth worrying about. Pinellas SO now pays more and deputies are happy over there except for a few complainers that all agencies have. Their pay is more then HCSO, they now have dark green uniforms, and are getting Tahoes as patrol cars. Why would anyone want to go to Hillsborough SO anymore.
If anyone wants Hillsborough County TPD is a better place now. I remember when TPD wasn't but that is all changed now.
The best part is no other agency has Docobo as a leader.
AS far has retirement Rick Scott screwed that up not HCSO. Guess what he is back so be prepared for more of the same.
