Pinellas deputy disciplined after intoxication arrest

Only a 5 day suspension? Why wasn't this psycho fired? Is he related to Gualtieri or some of the higher brass?

At least it wasnt a DUI

So you can have a blatant disregard for your star and credentials; throw a loaded firearm around and leave it like it is nothing and ask to be arrested and only get a week off. Not a bad deal. Listening to the radio this morning the DJ made a comment about how this deputy had two prior incidences as well. Glad he didn't bring any discredit to the agency.

Lucky for him he did not get caught doing something really bad like banging another deputy's wife.

At least he is handy with his firearm. Throws it well down alleys and against fences. He should be promoted.

He discredited himself and the agency but Gualtieri also discredited himself and the agency by failing to take appropriate action - termination. Or worse - transfer him to the jail.

Soooooo.... If you drink and drive you are automatically terminated. However it is okay to drink and toss a gun on the ground and get arrested as long as you are AWAITING TRANSPORTATION. What a joke this agency has became!! Very embarrassing!!

    It's on us!!!

The discipline around this place is obviously biased. There is no consistency or fairness. The jail has been broken and the road is h getting there. Obviously, a total disconnect between the command and line staff has made the job harder and I'm some cases impossible without getting written up. The problem is the mindset that policy is a "guideline" and that punishments allowed to be handed out in a very arbitrary fashion. This is a perfect case for termination. Level 3 charges 40 hours of punishment is a travesty. More and more laziness and mistakes are punished more than craziness and dangerous . We allow self-destructive,hot headed and endangering members to continue employment at our own risk.

You obviously got one thing right that laziness is punished and it should be. You are either ignorant or don't work here cause people don't get fired for Level 3. That level is not the top level. If the boss fired someone for a Level 3 you would be complaining cause that was unfair. That deputy was on light duty working the desk for a long time after that incident. I think he went to treatment. Maybe he had a problem and the fair thing was not to can him cause the treatment fixed him. Why is it a perfect case for termination when the Level was not one that you can get fired for and he got treated for his problem. I hope if you have a problem someday you will feel, the same way and just quit. I'm not sure you work here but if you do you might want to show some feelings for a fellow deputy with a problem. Looks like the boss showed some compassion to me. Is that unfair?

If a conduct type offense can get you fired around here, this was the jackpot! Drunk, flashing tin, slinging your firearm down the street, and then getting arrested! You blew this one G
