He reportedly stole it TWICE. If you or I (or a reserve deputy or an auxiliary deputy) were to steal SSO gas from fleet... for use in our civilian car or in our lawnmower... what would be the penalty? A memo should be written to Hoffman to ask for his legal opinion.

Earning potential for Sarasota Deputy
Good evening and greetings from Massachusetts. I’ve got somewhat of a broad question, so I’ll word it as best as possible.
Looking to relocate down there and interested in the Law enforcement / Partrol side of things. I know a deputy starting out is going to range from 45-50k starting out. Is there opportunity for OT? We have details up here that officers can work and that coupled with OT, it’s nothing for someone to make six figures...
While I know details aren’t the same down there, I know they exist, perhaps at a lesser rate. Can you work as much as you want down there or is extra duty (OT and details) somewhat scarce?
Thanks for any info!

6 figures impossible unless in the circle
The details are far and few between. The salary caps out after 8 years at 66,500 +/- but based on 12 hour shifts it ends up being close 70k. Overtime is not offered much but there is no OT until after 86 hours have been actually worked in a 2 week pay period.

Extra duty
If details are few and far between, and OT is essentially non existent, how does one make a little extra money? Are other agencies better in terms of earning potential? If you’re a worker and scoop everything you can, what’s the most a deputy can make?
Up north with details in Mass. it’s nothing for a cop to make six figures. Some troopers are making 200k a year, though admittedly they have no life and are certainly logging the hours...
I understand Florida is certainly not Mass. but figured there was a way to make some decent money down there.

You have no clue what you are talking about. We have a website called Power Details. If you want to work details you can literally work all your days off. Details are far from scarce. We have five pages of details.
The pay the person above is not including, , Cost of living, education, Salary incentive, experience pay, night shift differential pay, Specialty pay, Field Training,SWAT,CIB, ERT and several others. If you are only averaging 66k a year its because no one to blame but yourself. Unfortunately you came to the slum website of a few disgruntled employees. Please do not believe half the negative crap on here!!! Sure every agency has them but I came from another agency over 20 plus years ago. This is a great agency. You can do your job and go home to your family. Good luck and I encourage you to come down do a ride a long and take a few days vacation here. You wont regret it.
