FHP punks media once again with holiday enforcement statement
Yet again, FHP punks the media with their blantantly false statement that "All uniformed FHP personnel, including those normally assigned to administrative duties, will patrol interstates and other major state roads during the four-day holiday."
And yet again, the media publishes this completely untrue statement without question. What's amazing is that outlets like the Sun-Sentinel which made calling out law enforcement agencies their main mission a few years back continue to fall for FHP's lies every holiday period. Just once I'd like a reporter to press FHP and ask for hard numbers or ask why FHP lies to the public no less than four times a year, every year, about the number of extra Troopers on patrol during holiday periods.

Agreed !! Colonel is not telling the public the truth. Everyone my ass. Ever see commercial vehicle troopers work a weekend? It don't happen. Drive up and down the interstate on a sunday night and see all the POS trucks running down the road.....shit, they could have 80,000 lbs of cocaine on board too, cuz you aren't going to see any K-9 boys out on a sunday evening either. Yea, maybe a few people get hosed and are forced to work an aircraft detail on Friday morning, but its back to the same old crap after 1pm where everyone goes home early.

I'm glad the specialty units get a pass----there's nothing wrong with that at all. I posted this thread because no law enforcement agency should intentionally lie to the public. It's not like the news asks FHP who is working the road....the Public Affairs Office writes and distributes these press releases knowing they're not true. Why say anything at all? The fact is, "all uniformed staff" are not working the road. The Major is not running stationary radar. The background investigator will be at home grilling up some burgers. Motors will be home too. So will everyone with gold on their shoulders. The road will be staffed by whoever is regularly scheduled to work. That's the way it will be on Labor Day, Thanksgiving, New Years, Memorial Day and every other holiday....which is how it has always been.

Be careful what you wish for. They might start adjusting everyone's schedule to work the holidays. Just be thankful when a holiday falls on your RDO.

For the last 24 years I have heard the same shit every holiday. When I was a rookie I was dumb enough to believe the bull shit. Now laugh because Florida news media and the citizens believe the big lie. This past week end my brass was home enjoying their long week end. There were only two of us to cover the county. But they were quick to required from us to hold a detail on the interstate. Guess what, that did not happened. You pretend to pay me I pretend to work

and not one single CVE unit 10-8 Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. Biggest mistake was taking these leeches in and making them troopers.
