So, what is the police work that you feel can be done, the FF has discontinued, which will prevent an angry person from assaulting their lover or relative?
There are things that can be done to help prevent it but go ask the friends or relatives of police department or city hall employees who they hire on a regular basis over those who are actually qualified for the job. I applied for the crime prevention specialist job and got a thanks but no thanks letter. Let the more qualified tell you. After all I only have my degree in criminal justice where I ecxelled in community policing and presentations. In that community policing class we had exercises in dealing with actual problems most departments see everyday. All the sworn officers would come to my group and I would always do the presentation. The departments included: Miami Dade, Sweetwater, City of Miami, and an Air Force M.P. Then in Applied Research Methods I had 7 BSO employees and some of them sat stunned watching my presentation and the professor was so pleased that she told me 2 years later she would never forget me as I was the only who gave her all she wanted.
Let me enlighten you and everyone who doesn't know already about government Jobs. You would be lucky, like winning the lottery lucky to get into a government job without having a connection. You see most government jobs are very very very political and if you don't have something to offer the top dog, your name will just get thrown in the trash can after you apply. If you want a job with the Sheriff's Office, you need to hold a fund raiser at your house for the sheriff elect. If you want a job at the local PD, you need to intern for free at the city manager's office. Is it right? NO Is it reality? Yes that is the reality. Government is corrupt period. Yes there are some that are not but for the most part Government is Corrupt. It has gotten worse the last few years and evidence of that is all the local and national arrests of all the politicians. Here's another hint. No one cares what your teacher told you. If your teacher was on the ball he or she would have told you to go intern at the PD's admin office to get your foot in the door to give you a fighting chance at getting hired. And no one cares about your presentations either. In the real world a crime scene tech is rushed from call to call as fast as they can to process a scene, take photos and fingerprints and do the crime scene report. There is no time for presentations. That is TV stuff not real life.

I did an internship and because I don't play the you get hireed if I get in game I got nowhere. As for crime scene I never mentioned crime scene but rather a crime prevention specialist who goes out in the community and does presentations and talks with the public.
Crime prevention specialist is not a real job. What college did you attend? They should have told you that this is really a made up position more aligned with PR for the Police dept. No Crime prevention specialist has ever prevented a crime. They do put on a good dog and pony show though.

It would've been great to have someone new, as our current crime prevention specialist suck so bad. as a 23 year resident of hollywood I had never met a crime prevention specialist until I actually asked about them.
