Miramar Cop Busted for Booze Theft

A Miramar Police officer was arrested on petit theft and official misconduct charges after officials say he stole two bottles of liquor while investigating a shoplifting case.

Antonio Dwayne Hester, 34, is also facing a charge of falsifying records stemming from his investigation into a May 14 theft at a Walgreens store, Miramar Police said Thursday.

Hester was booked into jail and later released on bond. It was unknown whether he has an attorney.

According to police, Hester had detained the suspects and found several items in their car, including two bottles of Johnnie Walker Black Label liquor, police said.
It turned out the alcohol didn't belong to Walgreens but had been bought in Tampa. The items were brought back to the Walgreens store, and the women were released and given trespass warnings by Hester, police said.

Store surveillance captured Hester place the alcohol in the trunk of his police car. A civilian observer who was riding with Hester also saw him place it into his trunk, police said.

But in his incident report, Hester said he had returned the alcohol to the suspects, police said.

Hester, who has been with the department since April 2006, was placed on administrative leave.

Is it possible this officer simply forgot the two bottles in his trunk? If it was "intentional" then he just threw away a career for $50 worth of booze.
    Unbelievable.

Absolutely not a mistake. This was not the first time he has been been accused or found to be guilty of theft and neglect of duty. Unless his mentor DW cleaned up his file i'm sure anyone can see he has been a problem since he started and all the past and current chiefs have taken care of him to keep city hall happy by not firing a black officer. I pray the media reveals all the corrupt practices and favoritism that has been going on here with this thug. Wasn't his CSA GF caught cheating on FDLE test and then instead of being fired reassigned to do background checks on new hires.

How long does it take for people to figure out that when you have this may people committing frauds and crimes then being arrested in the past five years there is a problem with leadership and oversight with now the past two chiefs.

This is what makes people leave.

Why does he have to be referred to as a "thug"? Is that a racially motivated statement? He is not the only corrupt one but just another one who actually got caught.
