Pickle Boy
1) Your pension sucks
2) Your pay sucks
3) Your leadership sucks
4) I don't think anybody cried a river when the last two folks left WGPD
5) Recruiting on another agency's forum? Wouldn't expect less from a two-year deputy
6) If it was all about movement I'd go to Tampa or even OPD for a better pension, much higher salary and lateral movement. Why would anybody want to go to a sheriff's office for dooky pay and a worse pension?

Signal 60 King:
1. Please explain how WGPD’s retirement is better.
2. Does WGPD have supplemental pay for specialized positions? Can officers accrue compensatory time in lieu of overtime? Are WGPD units required to flex out their hours so they don’t collect overtime? Does your admin stand behind your officers?
3. OCSO’s leadership can change with an election…. you are stuck with ol’ George and Bill.
4. Who cares what mechanism is used to recruit? Its better than having some fat officer with three chins at a college job fair.
5. Perhaps it isn’t all about the pay. Perhaps its about the ability to do other things than “10-65 a parking complaint” or Signal 59 7-11. Maybe the ability to work in mounted units, marine patrol, motors, aviation, drugs, task forces, etc is enticing enough. After all, it seems like WGPD has done their share of hiring retired “pickle boys” and instantly giving them positions - ie D/C BS, your homicide detective, a K9 officer. Even your chief is a retired ‘pickle boy’ from another county. Perhaps the ability to ADVANCE is more enticing than 10-65’ing calls all day
