Yet another petition involving the great state of Oregon from FORCECHANGE.COM (see link and petition below). We really need to get someone from an Oregon agency to help us start some Oregon message boards (please contact us at info@leoaffairs.com). Curious as to everyone's input on this petition:

Target: Hillsboro Police Chief Lee Dobrowolski
Goal: Demand proper justice and medical compensation for man racially profiled and assaulted by police

Even in one of the country’s most bike friendly cities, bikers can still have troubles riding around the city. One man in particular was riding his bike legally, at night, when he was ripped from his bike, tasered, and thrown to the ground by police. Solely because this man did not hear the police shouting at him, he was physically assaulted, charged with resisting arrest, and suffered a herniated disc at the hands of local police.

All bikers and civilians should be safe around their police counterparts. However, in the case of Jermaine Robinson of Hillsboro, Oregon, a biker was asked to stop because of his race. Because Robinson could not hear the officer nor see him in the night, he continued biking and did not know to stop. Police officers Blood and Wilber immediately tackled him to the ground, tasered him, and put him in jail for “resisting arrest.” Robinson suffered not only mental trauma from this event, but also physical trauma including herniated discs and muscle and tendon strains. In addition, this biker was also acquitted of his charges by a jury, proving his innocence against the officers.

Jermaine Robinson is now filing a lawsuit against the City of Hillsboro, demanding medical compensation for his injuries and asking the police department for injunctive relief, banning the use of racial profiling. Assist Robinson by asking the new Hillsboro Police Chief to acquiesce to Robinson’s demands.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Police Chief Lee Dobrowolski,

I recently became aware of an incident involving a biker attacked and tasered by the police of the City of Hillsboro. Jermaine Robinson was riding legally at night and was tackled by Officers Blood and Wilber. He was subsequently knocked to the ground, tasered, and taken to jail for “resisting arrest” when he asked if he was free to go. The police had no cause to ask him to stop biking and absolutely no reason to assault and taser him. Because of this attack, Robinson suffered herniated discs and mental and physical trauma. In addition, Robinson has reason to believe his attackers were motivated by racial bias.

The Hillsboro Police Deparment should be a model of police integrity and humanity, as shown in their humorous video that went viral lately. While the attack on Robinson cannot be taken back, I ask that you acquiesce to his demands of medical compensation and providing the injunctive relief against racial profiling in the future.

Sincerely,
