Capt. Rick Mottola sues Sheriff Thomas M. Knight

LIEUTENANT CHARLIE KASPAR'S RACIST REMARKS:

Lt. Charlie Kaspar made highly disparaging and discriminatory comments about the Mexican cleaning crew in the presence of a judge and various employees of Tom Knight. Charlie Kaspar was suspended for 16 hours by Mottola. Mottola's higher brass was very displeased about Mottola's investigation and refusal to seek out every possible exculpatory witness, even though Lt. Charlie Kaspar admitted making the comment.

Lt. Charlie Kaspar thanked an employee of Tom Knight, Deputy Cecilia Francis, for "not remembering" the comment Lt. Charlie Kaspar made about Mexicans. However, Deputy Francis had already told Sgt. Chris Iorio about Kaspar’s racist comment.

Tom Knight refused to take action against Charlie Kaspar, even though Charlie Kaspar was thanking a witness whom Kaspar perceived was falsely expressing a lack of recollection.

The above is very very bad. They were looking for exculpatory statements to exonerate him, even after he admitted to making the racist comments? :roll:

Actually, that demonstrates the mentality of senior management within the agency e.g. we know that the racial comments happened, but we want to fraudulently cover them up. However, Rick Mottola threw a monkey wrench into Knight's (and Steve Burns) unethical plans. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Just imagine all the other crap that has never (and will never) surface. Rookies are completely oblivious to this crap because they are too busy playing cop. However, sometime between years 15 and 20, our eyes slowly become accustomed to the internal immoral shenanigans in senior SSO management. Remember when Chris Knight got caught falsifying government documents when he was with FHP? And Tom Knight has that same nutty immoral mentality. Both the Knight brothers are class acts. Not!

That kind of immoral behavior is "systemic and pernicious" to the 2nd floor and is nearly impossible to eradicate. It is surprising that it is being exposed because a tight lid is usually kept on things like that. Very tight. You can ask Kurt Hoffman about "systemic and pernicious" behaviors. He knows about all of the above and he is a part of the problem.

The 2nd floor has been unusually quiet since Capt. Mottola's lawsuit against Knight hit the newspapers. There is some paranoia on the 2nd floor, with more closed door meetings than usual. Knight and Hoffman currently believe that the exposure of their malfeasance and misfeasance is politically motivated for the next election, so they're trying to figure out how to undermine Mottola (and others), but the lawsuit and publicity has them politically hamstrung, for now.

Actually, Steve Burns used to hang out with several of us at 3939 N. Washington while we were all on-duty. Burns was the supervisor, so who was anyone to question him? But that's common knowledge to anyone who has worked here with Burns.

Cpt. Mottola's attorney is moving forward with taking depositions. Is it possible for Tom Knight and Kurt Hoffman to somehow squash this entire case so that no one is deposed and nothing is released under the Sunshine law?

No, it is not possible. The only thing they can try is to go last so they can hear what everyone else says and then plan their lies. They will be deposed. It is just a matter of time. This one is going to be huge!

Thats what the second floor kept saying about Sgt Bob Grahams lawsuit against Knight, after Knight fired Grahams ass. Then Knight chickened out and didnt want the lawsuit to go to trial, so they paid Sgt Graham almost a million dollars instead. Why?
