    "What is a diamond award?"

It's a circuit wide award where officers or staff can nominate someone who they think went WELL above their duties and assisted other staff or the public. It's become another popularity contest and the bar is pretty low.

-Jeff Foxworthy voice (You might be a redneck...)-

If you stand outside another officers door waiting for police to arrive and take the offender into custody... you might get a diamond award.

If you help an in court probation officer write probation orders because they are overwhelmed...you might get a diamond award.

If you assist the OD, do some drug tests and see some offenders...you might get a diamond award.

You get the picture. Another good idea that has been abused. We don't wear uniforms (unfortunately) and so can't get pins or ribbons, but something tells me these things wouldn't qualify. I doubt they would be mentioned at all.

Diamond Awards should go to officers doing their jobs helping these offenders to get their lives turned around.

I once got a Diamond Award for cleaning up the chair that an offender was sitting on in my office. Seems I told her I was going to drug test her and she pee'd :x in her jeans while sitting there. Sent her out of the office to change her jeans, put on gloves and clean it up. Lucky it was hard chairs. My Diamond was stained yellow though.

You win the MOST NAIVE post of the Day Award. Congratuations. Keep working on that LCSW degree.

To the officer who posted about cleaning up the pee: why bother signing in as a Guest? The circuit isn't that big to know who you are. Maybe you don't care, but why put yourself out there? Use some discretion! Next time just post your picture next to your entry. Geez.
