Arrow H-T exposé of Knight's mismanagement?

Here is a must-read from the H-T website:

I tried to read the reports as they flashed on the screen.
Are you worried the second floor will know who you are?
Yes![/quote:1j40rwmf]
Certain high ranking politically appointed Sarasota Sheriff's Office employees on the "2nd floor" have been actively monitoring this board for a long time and they are well aware of the moniker "Country Roads." They do not know who he is or she is, although they have their suspicions. If the immoral henchmen on the 2nd floor knew the identity of Country Roads, they would begin an active smear campaign against him/her to destroy his/her credibility. Country Roads is wise to keep his/her identity undisclosed. Forever.

Deputies use the term "2nd floor" as a code phrase for the moral bankruptcy and corruption of the politically appointed henchmen who work there. Whenever any SSO employee uses the term "2nd floor," we all know exactly what it means. There are no if's, ands or buts about it. Not even a maybe. The 2nd floor political appointees are paid six figures to make the current sheriff (Mr. Tom Knight) look good – by any means necessary – even at your expense. However, Mr. Knight is detested by the vast majority of rank and file SSO employees. Numerous examples of why Mr. Knight is hated have already been given by Country Roads i.e. immoral and disturbing cases, to include:
** Mr. Knight's refusal to investigate Captain Ron Locke (for allegations of having sex with a child).
.
** The subsequent punishment of the whistle blower of the Locke case (Sgt. Chris Iorio).
.
** The promotion of Captain John Walsh (caught lying to IA and encouraging another officer to lie. Mr. Knight promoted Walsh to captain in late 2013).
.
** The promotion of Captain Kevin McElyea (he failed a lie detector test after getting caught seducing a subordinate and then lying about it).
.
** Sgt. Dan Tutko told K9 handler Dale Ellis to lie (aka sandbag) by saying that his dog got a “hit” for drugs during a search. The whistle blowing deputy (Dale Ellis) was then accused of being a “disgruntled” employee and he was written-up by Lt. JJ Jernigan.
.
** Then there is the current case in today’s paper where Mr. Knight is actively refusing to investigate a videotaping of SSO jailers punching, kicking and tasering (twice) a prisoner who was strapped into a immobilization-chair. Mr. Knight is claiming that there is nothing to investigate. The media is going to force Mr. Knight to do an about face. This is just warming up. Similarly, Mr. Knight refused to investigate Captain Ron Locke for having sex with a child, so FDLE had to step in and do it for him – and then Mr. Knight claimed that he could have done a better investigation than what the FDLE special agents did. That’s hypocrisy. This current SSO jail fiasco is looking like the Desoto jail beating, except the SSO inmate did not have marks on his face because all the punches were to his torso.
There are too many immoral cases of gross mismanagement and gross managerial incompetence to list here, but it cannot continue forever. Or can it? With this kind of 2nd floor mismanagement, is anyone really surprised at what is happening inside the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office? Honestly? Here is the 2nd floor motto:
- Admit nothing
- Deny everything
- Demand proof
- Make counter-allegations (look at what happened to whistle blowers Sgt. Chris Iorio and Deputy Dale Ellis as continuing proof).

The current 2nd floor crop of mismanagement misfits is the equivalent of a backwoods, cut-throat, hillbilly sheriff's office, BUT we are now in the 21st Century and the 2nd floor is operating with a 90 million dollar budget and state-of-the-art technology and a Facebook page that never shows the dirty internal mismanagement realities of the 2nd floor. Mr. Knight was politically shrewd to hire Ms. Wendy Rose as a professional journalist for close to six figures to create a surreal Facebook page on the internet to make Mr. Knight look like a knight in shining armor. Nonetheless, the current senior management on the 2nd floor remains politically inbred with a backwoods cut-throat hillbilly philosophy, regardless of their education and multimillion dollar budget. The dirty deeds of the 2nd floor make the Beverly Hillbillies look really good.

The vast majority of slick sleeves (rankless deputies) are honest LEOs who are just trying to do an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay. However, too many political cronies have risen to the top (in rank) on the 2nd floor and many are nothing but self-serving megalomaniacs – or even sociopaths. For example, one upstanding Herald-Tribune reporter, who shall remain unnamed, described Colonel (Chief Deputy) Steve Burns as a "sycophant," and that description is flattering at best.

"SSO" is also a moniker used by multiple rankless Sarasota Sheriff's Office employees. This writer also monitors this website, but rarely posts here and will not reply to this thread. Unfortunately, Mr. Knight's politically appointed henchmen are also reading here.

Many people believe that when Mr. Tom Knight was arrested by VPD at a bar for disorderly conduct, it was because alcohol fueled his temper. Today, nothing has changed, except now he has power. Mr. Tom Knight is the most ruthless, shrewd, self-serving politician that this agency has ever seen. He is also the least respected. Just because a tyrant is ruthless does not mean he is stupid.

Word on the street is that Mr. Knight is not running for office in the next election – and Major Kurt Hoffman will be running. It remains to be seen. Hoffman also has past skeletons of stealing gas (as a deputy) and failing a lie detector test.

We need a person of competence, integrity and compassion to run for sheriff. That’s a rare combination of traits, but it’s desperately needed. Your vote counts.[/quote:1j40rwmf]

The above two incidents are accurate predictors of the future of the Sarasota Sheriff's Office. And now those two pillars of the Knight regime are in the inner circle of the 2nd floor. If you want to know the future of the Sarasota Sheriff's Office, just look at the past. :?

Re: H-T exposé of Knight's mismanagement?

Who cares. over 1000 employees . I would expect a few disgruntled employees. big deal some people got promoted that shouldn't based on opinion. that never happened under the old Sheriff  ...We then hear some ex-cop babbling because he can't get a job. can we just move along. after all. That looser newspaper puts a small blurb on a soldier killed in action but a full page on moronic politics. I can not stand that paper. Just do your job idiot and go home. Don't worry about the small crap. It doesn't affect your pay or should it concern you.
