UNION CONTRACT

Hey PBA when are you going to start listening to your members. You know, the people who actually make up the union. Here are a few suggestions for our next contract. City pays us for all of our vacation and sick time when we retire. City pays full medical if you retire with 25 years of service (auburndale pd has this). Shop around for better health insurance as this is a negotiable item. Ask for incentives for not calling in sick. City buys back small amount sick or vacation time at end of year(nice lil check for xmas). Physical fitness standard with incentives(too many guys hobbling from call to call which is a danger to those of us that are decently healthy, and no im not on SWAT) , negotiate that all officers wear the same level 3 vest(thats right only SWAT wears the level 3, the rest of us, well our lives are less important), fix the grievance and no sanction policy at LPD. The main sticking point is to actually fight for the officers and not just ask the city what they want to give us. Stand strong

Maybe one of you could help PCSO get the ball rolling on a union. It seems to be a popular idea but no one knows where to start, or they are just afraid of staff. Ideas?

There is no doubt the PCSO needs a union to protect the rank and file from the staff, the problem you are going to run into is who is going to be willing to be the shop stewards or serve on the union board. Who is willing to put that target on their back?

Check around. The PBA are loosing members because they is not doing their job. They are in bed with management. I have talked to other departments that have IUPA and are very happy with them.
