    ABTS DEMISE?

Hey do you think there may be some truth to the elimination of Law Enforcement? Just look at some of the connections of the people that all of a sudden appear at the top.

Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Julie L. Jones, Executive Director
Jim McCallister, Director, Office of Workforce Services

Law Enforcement Consolidation Task ForceTask Force Chair, Julie Jones, Executive Director, Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles

LAW ENFORCEMENT CONSOLIDATION TASK FORCEPG 22 Inspector generals' offices. Melinda Miguel was my team leader.
PG 25 The team also explored whether agencies with regulatory functions need to have sworn people doing just regulatory inspections. And I've talked personally to Secretary O'Connell and Secretary Lawson about this. They have law enforcement personnel basically going in and doing inspections, and they're both looking at their particular operations and are going to come back before the committee sunsets with some recommendations. And they're actively pursuing some efficiencies now in how they run their operations.

Jeffrey S. Woodburn Deputy Secretary at Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation
Current Deputy Secretary at Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation
Past Deputy Policy Director at Executive Office of the Governor
Staff Director- Government Efficiency Task Force at Executive Office of the Governor
Attorney at Florida House of Representatives
    Attorney/Legislative Consultant at Legislative Consultant
Attorney/Law Clerk at McConnaughhay, Duffy, Coonrod, Pope and Weaver, P.A.
Intern Staff Attorney for Regulated Industries Committee at The Florida Senate
Law Clerk at Marks Gray, P.A.

This guy Jim McCallister is interviewing Orlando agents this week. Why send DHSMV to tell us Tilley is coming back?

    Re: ABTS DEMISE?

Thirty percent of the law enforcement positions gone by June 2014. Another 30% after that, since the first reclassification/realignment was so successful. It is literally one fiscal year at a time here.
The leaders have finally figured out that ABT has outlived its practical value. The PD and SO does EVERYTHING we do, except admin cases. You don't need to be sworn to do admin cases. On the positive side, every year you get 3% High Hazard Retirement is a blessing. If Ricky is reelected King, you can plan on many more major cuts. OPPAGA is right around the corner with another 10 year review. If you have less than 20 years, you might consider other options. As for me, I am riding this bomb all the way to the target!!!

ABT is pathetic. Needs to go! Even PERC says you all are "rogue" employees who fabricate lies on management and the public.

ABT is a sinking ship. You are basically funding sworn personnel for misdemeanors and administrative cases. ABT is the 2nd largest source of income for the State, but sworn has nothing to do with the amount of revenue generated. The powers that be could save a ton of money but eliminating sworn positions and just continuing down the road to civilianization, without effecting their revenue. ABT has spent so much time focusing on minors with alcohol and inspections, they have put themselves behind the eight ball. Any switch to actual criminal work is too little too late. ABT has a shit reputation, the damage has been done. If the gov continues to fund sworn personnel at ABT, he is crazy.

If they keep cutting LTs and agents why do we need the management - and their staff of attorneys - who by the way make $100,000.00 plus [and for what]. Cut a couple of them deputy general counsels and the "create a $105,000 per year position" for REGGGGIEEE DIIXXXION and you have your budget cut. ABT does not even need an attorney - aint our Deputy Director one! She can handle it. I think I will forward this to Melinda M. and Julie J. for task force consideration. :cop:
