"Seminal" don't care about you and soon enough you won't care about them. I figured your years of experience would make you a little smarter. But if you don't see it yet, you will soon enough. Yeah every other department has problems and you hear and read about them. But those are depts with hundreds/thousands of sworn officers. There is always a certain percentage that are disgruntled but when the "Seminal" forum (100+ officers) is just as active as BSO forums (5,000+ personnel), a tenured officer would call that a clue. I'm not sure how many people are actully posting on here, but yes I agree some appear to be very disgruntled. I ask you this tho, what do you like about your department? There has to be some good things there. Yes, having to work sucks, but if your short staffed which most departments are theres going to be times when you are going to have to bite the bullet and work. Is it OT? A lot of people would kill for some OT in other departments. Lets compair departmetns. Ok, my department starts about 10.000 dollars less a year, NO...NO..overtime. Very limited details, managed by the good ol boy system, and actully held up by a few officers who work while the others take credit for it. When you ask for a raise which most haven't has in almost 6 years they tell you theres nothing they can do and you need to move on if thats what will make you happy. To answer your questions, why yes we do have it that bad. Everything you on here is more less true. All the things you said, i think most of us can live with.Good ol boy system, I use to work in one of those. But least the upper command took care off themselves, here you got command who are trying hell and high water to screw everyone over. Your are forced to give preferentail treatment, im sorry we provide a spercial kind of service This is the only place i know that is a safe haven for criminals, filthy trashed house, forget its part of their culture, drug problems, forget it, take them to that Ft Lauderdale hospital or some crap, because maybe 20 times is a charm. Yeah OT, OT is great, work it, catch an IA with it, regardless if you right or wrong, if the complainiant is an indian, count on at least a write, its how the parasites up stairs, keep them happy, Work as fine, as long you dont have to do a memo everytime you do to justify because your supervisors dont have the testicular fortitude to stick up for their troops, the caliber of supervisors is substandard, and they will stop and nothing to rise to the top, ill tell you what, you can have my postion and ill take urs, cuz, here its everyman for himself, you will get ahead as long as your the coperate color, your a spineless smith, not everyone leaving can be wrong. think about it

Hey, thanks a lot for the insight. I'm sadden to hear about the back stabbing among fellow officers. Unfortunately, lately I have been seeing this crap all over. We are our own worst enemy. Officers have to stick together or we cannot survive this line of work. Of course you do not lie, but you also do not dis other officers so you look good. I'm pro cop and always will be. I have always came to work and minded my own business did my job and went home. I have ran into few problems being this way. I started out in law enforcment open and social, but came to realize very quickly that some of the men n weman I thought to be my brother and sister were not there to help me. So, I know all cops are not the same and do not have your back. The way I really deal with this is planning everything around knowing just that. I do my job, I keep very few people close, and I go home. Most people know very little about my personal life which I love. I also have never had any lust for power so I'm not a threat to people who do. Those kind of people always screw themselves at some point. Like the LT you mentioned. People like her will always hang themselves. You just have to be patient enough and give them enough rope. Yes, of course I would like to make money and as much as I can while remaining as low key as possible. It seems this admin wants you guys to lay low, so thats exactly what you do. All things heal in due time. We are sometimes impatient and want it to happen right now. I think from what I read on all these posts is the place is not that bad to work for, its some of the commands decisions thats the problem. Keep your head up guys and try to stay positive.

Officers have to stick together or we cannot survive this line of work. Of course you do not lie, but you also do not dis other officers so you look good. I'm pro cop and always will be. I have always came to work and minded my own business did my job and went home. I have ran into few problems being this way. I started out in law enforcment open and social, but came to realize very quickly that some of the men n weman I thought to be my brother and sister were not there to help me. So, I know all cops are not the same and do not have your back. The way I really deal with this is planning everything around knowing just that. I do my job, I keep very few people close, and I go home. Most people know very little about my personal life which I love. I also have never had any lust for power so I'm not a threat to people who do. Those kind of people always screw themselves at some point. Like the LT you mentioned. People like her will always hang themselves. You just have to be patient enough and give them enough rope. Yes, of course I would like to make money and as much as I can while remaining as low key as possible. It seems this admin wants you guys to lay low, so thats exactly what you do. All things heal in due time. We are sometimes impatient and want it to happen right now. I think from what I read on all these posts is the place is not that bad to work for, its some of the commands decisions thats the problem. Keep your head up guys and try to stay positive.

I'm not sure how many people are actully posting on here, but yes I agree some appear to be very disgruntled. I ask you this tho, what do you like about your department? There has to be some good things there. Yes, having to work sucks, but if your short staffed which most epartments are theres going to be times when you are going to have to bite the bullet and work. Is it OT? A lot of people would kill for some OT in other departments. Lets compair departmetns. Ok, my department starts about 10.000 dollars less a year, NO...NO..overtime. Very limited details, managed by the good ol boy system, and actully held up by a few officers who work while the others take credit for it. Aftermath, thank you for your inside opinion of SPD. I will stick with what I know, that all places have their good and bad issues. It's up to the people to deal with both. If it's not worth it to you, then you have some decisions to make. I understand not being happy, this is why i'm choosing to leave my current agency. Now, it is not the only reason but one of many. My agency is a great place, some of the people I work for are not so great but I love my job there. It is not financially sufficient enough for my family and there is no room for movement which are the main reasons I have decided to look elsewhere. The only advice I can give to anyone and everyone, is stay positive and try to find the good in everything instead of being blinded by the bad. You will feel much better and believe or not things will go smoother for you. Trust me, it really works. Another thing is, stay away from negative people. Negativity is a sickness which is contagions. Example: when you walk into a wedding reception and see everyone smiling, dancing, and having a good time you automatically feel uplifted even tho you don't notice it you feel better. When you walk into a room where someone has been hurt or a funeral where people are sad and crying, no matter if you didn't know the person or anyone there you feel bad and sad. Stay positive and away from negative people.

Well that all depends,we try. You got so many IAs you can't count. Hell we got a guy who has been on leave for like six or seven months and he hasn't been back to work yet. Three others because a sergeant sold them out. is that normal? As far as the wedding if the bride is someone you will never hook up with then it's a sad day, if its a funeral that would include the Lt we been talking about, then that would be a good day.
