Re: morale
How can the brass really improve morale and working conditions ? Please put facts not exaggerations or things that cannot be done?
Be truthful and serious and are there any places with good morale?

Three, stop changing statistics. I've heard several bureaus and districts have redone the numbers to make it look like crime is down. Why lie? Stop trying to satisfy your superiors. If crime is up let it show. Instead some have chosen to redo the numbers so crime is where it should be. WE ARE OUR OWN WORST ENEMY. The public constantly bashes us, the mayor doesn't care about us. You get what you pay for. Apparently not in Miami-Dade. Pay officers less, don't allow them to do proactive police work, and mysteriously crime goes down!!

Morale begins with you. I’m not saying that command can’t affect it, but that you and only you have the power to control how you react to any one situation. Focus on your day.

HEAR, HEAR!
The power of one is unconquerable! Morale, like integrity, is an intrinsic value, no one can put them in you and only you can diminish your morale and soil your integrity. It is a privilege to be a Miami Dade County deputy sheriff, the personal struggles that took to earn that Star and then keep it, are self-evident. We are optimistic about MDPD's future; especially should Mayor Alex Penelas win the Mayoral election on November 2020. Hopefully Mayor Penelas will appoint a police director with the experience, job knowledge, maturity and most importantly, familiarity with MDPD's past. Why? Those who fail to learn from past experiences are doomed to err again. The years between 2020 and 2024 will be pivotal for MDPD; whoever Mayor Penelas appoints police director will have the duty to ready the department for its transition to the elected Sheriff's Office.
Until then, endeavor to persevere and do you best, regardless what cynics say and slothful fail to do. When you get in that Green and White cruiser remember this: You are the master of your fate, the captain of your soul; act accordingly.

I guess that only applies to rank and file and not the administration. They can soil their integrity and that’s ok.
Double standard. Remember we learn from the best of them
