FTO

Ive heard horror stories about your FTO program..lazy, disgruntled, sometime racist individuals who seem more inclined to wash ppl out then actually pass them onto the next phase. what gives? can anyone confirm this?

Just like anything else you going to have your fair share of disgruntled employees. The biggest problem with the FTO program is that there are very few FTO's with true experience. KWPD has a high turnover, but there are requirements "on paper" for certain specialty positions, which with high turnover can limit your pool. KWPD has sometimes waived these requirements and put officers with less than a year in LE through FTO School just to accommodate the constant influx of new hires. So, in short, yes there are some idiot FTO's, but the scarier part is that the majority of the FTO's have little to no experience and are training new hires, a recipe for disaster and lawsuits. As far as "washing out", it seems KWPD (due to their constant revolving door) will do their damndest to retain someone, no matter how obvious it is that they have no business being the police, instead of just washing them out.
