Bob Graham got his giant payday last week in federal court.

Sgt. Bob Graham was fired by Tom Knight with the legalese of Kurt Hoffman, our current legal adviser. :roll:

Graham's doctor gave him a written letter to give to his employer (Knight) telling him not to take the new physical agility test, due to back problems. Knight's henchmen ordered Graham to take the test anyways and when Graham refused, he was fired on-the-spot at the Englewood training facility. They took away his badge, gun and car on-the-spot.

So Graham took his ACE award and sued in Federal court under the ADA.

Are you saying that Bob Graham finally won the lawsuit against Tom Knight, even with the extraordinary legalese of Kurt Hoffman? :mrgreen:

The Feds don't work that way. However, if you're a reporter, you can put in a public records request at 2071 Ringling Boulevard asking the records section for the Federal lawsuit ruling in the Tom Knight v. Sgt. Bob Graham (fired) case. It's Federal ADA and not State court.

No Proof? Yeah, I believe you....... NOT.

It was a listed item in a recent BOCC meeting where they were required to approve the payout (a portion of it anyway). It is one of the items listed in the same meeting that Knight made his comments about SPD (sorry don't have a link and don't remember the date).

It will not be on the federal web sight as our atty decided that they could not prevail. So they agreed to pay big bucks. Ask Patrick Duggan he will not lie

County Attorney Stephen DeMarsh commented on and discussions were held on Interoffice Memorandum No. 1237 regarding the receipt of a Notice of Intent filed by the Friends of Warm Mineral Springs to file suit against the County, the City of North Port, Cypress Lending Group, Ltd., and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 403.412.

Items submitted: Interoffice Memorandum Nos. 1235, 1236, and 1237

11:02 a.m. Board Action: Approved the Settlement with Robert Graham, in the Case of Robert Graham v. Tom Knight, Case No. 8:12-cv-00635-SDM-MAP, in the amount of $597,593.00, with payment by the County, in the amount of $357,593.00; and with payment by Ace Insurance Company, in the amount of $240,000.00. Moved by Robinson, seconded by Barbetta, carried by a 5-0 vote.

Graham went into SIB around 1990 and became the "tech" guy. Ask anybody in there about his "tech" skills... What a Joke...

Due to his "tech" knowledge he is made a "specialty corpoal and then a sergeant" he supervised no one... Feel free to protest like you do about the unfairness of the current specialty sergeants.

In 1996 he hurts his back lifting a computer battery at work and has surgery. Doc puts him on lifting restrction.... Does he go on light duty, have his gun taken away, his car, his assignement? Nope stays right there in SIB. 98 hurts back again lifting another batery. 2001 has surgery again all this time being under "lifting restirctions"... Still in SIB with rank, gun, car, etc.... You think that if you were hurt like that you would be left in your position and taken care of like he was , even back then?

2007 rolls around and his buddy ole Sheriff Billy Balkwill puts in place the current PAT test to come into line with state standards.
Knight keeps it when he takes office.....
Around 2009 Graham is unable to complete the test and per the G.O. is fired.

Way I see it is that from 1990 until 2009 we worked in SIB as the tech guy. He was handed a promotion and stayed there in basically a light duty capacity with no light duty restrictions so he in my eyes got trearted pretty good. If anything they protected him for
most of his career. Did he have to hump calls, work holidays, midnights , weekends or supervise a squad?
Anybody else and you would be blasting him but since the county settled the lawsuit, like they do every single time, you turds siezed on it to blast the Sheriff.
