I would call the CA in Circuit 17 to verify this story, but I don't have a phone in my office.

Here is what I got on the subject

    "Membership Meeting Notes
    May 9 & 10 Arcadia

    Actions of Florida Legislature:
    Pay Raises effective Oct 1 , 2013
    $1400 Ofcs under 40k
    $1000 Ofcs over 40k
    Possible $600 merit BONUS
    Planted seeds for further Raises
    Further FRS degradation curtailed
Slowed down the States push to
    Privatize more work release
    centers and pointed out problems
    with the propped Reentry Inst
    proposal.

    Contract Negotiations:
    Got language for improved safety
    vehicle considerations.
Added Clause to allow POs to
    carry firearms in offices.
    Got two year contract with
    provision for reopening on
    impasses articles such as 23.
    Strengthened language on a
    number of articles

    Ongoing Issues:
    Mediation on Class Action
    special and regular comp and
    on PO case load distribution
    problem.
    Arbitration on treatment on S/L
And PH use in month when earning
    Special Comp.
Not being allowed to use special

    Continue to represent in PDC

Haven't seen the language in the contract should be coming out soon for ratification

The subject of open-carry would not be in the contract. That is strictly a Department policy issue, not a collective bargaining issue.
