$ for jail addition but not for raise
The county has the $60+ million for a new jail building to start construction soon but no money for a raise for deputies. The deputies who started work 5 years ago are still stuck at entry level pay making the same as newly hired. Not a good way to retain employees unless you make them all corporals and sergeants. How about a raise for the people who perform the actual work rather than the captains who shuffle papers.

What that means is the $60 Million comes from funds that can only be used for infrastructure. That's fancy for buildings or construction projects. Above poster is correct, try and educate yourself before you spout off ignorantly again.

Re: $ for jail addition but not for raise
No matter where the money comes from, Bob is still a POS for not finding money for raises as he promised.

Re: $ for jail addition but not for raise
The funding for the jail expansion, new SAB, courthouse expansion comes from Penny for Pinellas jackass. Has nothing to do with county's general fund. You are truly ignorant.

Why get on here and defend the Sheriff unless you are the Sheriff when it comes to pay raises. The state is finding money for pay raises, as well are many other Sheriffs. I'm sure Bob could have found some somewhere in the budget.

Re: $ for jail addition but not for raise
Why do we need a jail expansion? Don't we currently have wings that are closed and not used? If you want to be pissed at someone for now money for raises, that should fall straight on the fat lap of the BoCC. Bob has done more good things for our pay than the past 2 sheriff's combined. He has identified the problem and has a solution. But the BoCC won't give him the funding we need to get it done.

Re: $ for jail addition but not for raise
The priorities of the sheriff and BOCC are buildings and equipment over raises for employees. And that should make anyone working for the county pizzed.

You want to blame someone for shitty pay? Blame former Sheriff Rice. He was rolling in money and gave crap for raises. He used to give $10,000,000 back to the BOCC every freaking year. He could have managed that money a hell of a lot better but did not give a shit about anyone but himself and his cronies. That's a fact.
