Can we pin a PBA topic section to the board so this will stay at the top like the FHP one.

    Matt,

Any updates on the pay raise bills. I hear the senate approved their budget and it is close to the house budget, with the house providing more funding for pay increases. Any news?

    Thanks

That's up to the moderator. My guess is it will happen if this post gets a lot of views.

Budget- the Senate budget did pass today. The pay raise money in the Senate budget increases salaries for FWC in the following manner: a total of 6% for officers with five years or less and 8% for officers with more than five years. House budget is being voted on tomorrow so let's wait and see where it lands.

If you are hearing that the raise died or anything like that. It is not true.

The House changed the across the board raise from $1400 to $1000 with a $400 merit bonus. However, the House left in the additional 3% for all of you. Here's the language:

    2) SPECIAL PAY ISSUES
    (a) Effective July 1, 2013, from the funds in Specific Appropriation 1950A, $1,302,827 from the General Revenue Fund and $8,351,498 from trust funds are provided to fund competitive pay adjustments of 3 percent on the employee's June 30, 2013 base rate of pay, to unit and non-unit employees of the Law Enforcement, Florida Highway Patrol, and Special Agent bargaining units.

FWC officers are included in the law enforcement officers bargaining unit.

The Senate did not change anything in its proposal.

Negotiations will begin shortly between the chambers.

Let's hope the Senate and PBA can talk some sense into the House!!!

    Matt,

So am I reading it right that the house proposal does not address compression at all. So basically the house will keep all of us at base salary?

    Moderator,

Could you please pin an ask the PBA thread like is on the FHP link. This is a good communication channel and should be at the top always as a direct link between us and our bargaining unit. Matt has been doing a great job keeping up with the Q and A.

The House is just proposing an additional 3%. The Senate proposal addresses compression.

word in Tallahassee is that we will not get either the overall raise or the compression raise this year. maybe next year if Obama keeps moving the economy in the right direction.
