Campaign hats
Ive noticed some Deputies wearing them as of late. Is this optional? I personally think it looks sharp!

Re: Campaign hats
Many of us enjoy not wearing a stupid hat. Don't rekindle that idea in the megalomaniac persona of El Jefe. He is already doing enough damage to what was once a fine agency.

Re: Campaign hats
In the old days Lt. W.C. (Red) Beagles insisted we should not only wear our hats when out of the car, but also IN the car. At 5'11" my hair brushed the headliner of the car when I was sitting in it. Wearing the hat was ridiculous.
On the other hand, Lt. Beagles was about 5'2" and saw no problem wearing his hat in his car. I just ignored his order.

Headgear or "cover" as we used to call it in the military has it's purpose. Wheter it keeps the sun off of your head and neck or the rain out of your hair. Do I think it should be worn all of the time, no. But I also witnessed over my years with the HCSO where there were formal occasions when it should have been worn by the troops and wasn't. Example, funeral details I attended out of county and I attended ALOT of them in my 12 or so years as a member of the offices Honor Guard team. As far as the campaign hat over the issued green cowboy hat currently in use I would vote for the campaign hat everytime. It looks better and more professional in my opinion.
