So the pension fund deficit has been miraculously made up in 2 years?
Hey if everyone else in the City including the bpd admin got a raise then it must be doing just fine, god forbid they had to pay 3%, so CC made that money appear, now show us the Money!

TALLAHASSEE -- From Bradenton to Miami, Florida’s cities and counties face a “ticking time bomb” of debt because they do not have enough money to pay future pensions and health care benefits already promised to current employees, according to a report released Wednesday from the LeRoy Collins Institute.

The worst offender is Bradenton, which owes retirees 476 percent more in health care benefits than the money they now spend on their total budgets. Others who owe between one and four times more than their budgets are Hollywood, Hialeah, Miami and Cape Coral.

What's going on? Last I heard we were to have a contract just till October? Glad our negotiators keep us up to speed on things. What a joke!

I agree. If anything based on the fact that they do not keep us up to date on anything. I understand that they may not be able to bring everything to us, but when was the last word from them about anything? All we ever hear is rumors about this and that.

It's now been over 5yrs since we've had a raise! Not sure if that's worse or the fact that we just seem to sit by and take it? Why are our union reps not fighting for us? Why is there zero communication people? Just think we've spent a quarter of a 20yr career with nothing. We need action now! Not more negotiations...

Last I heard for the old already expired contract the City offered $1,000 cash to every Union Member, the Union countered with $2,000, the City came back with $1,500, the Union made a counter offer of $2,000.

Of course the City said you already made that and we countered! The Union don't even remember the amount of money they are asking for.....................

Welcome to the club pal. Do you have any clue that we have been in a deep recession for the past 5 years? Do you read anything other than Facebook and sports? You must be a low information voter who voted for Obama. There is no extra money and the budgets have been cut to the bone. Want a raise? Dump your worthless union and save the dues money for yourself.

The Great Recession ended in June 2009, according to the body charged with dating when economic downturns begin and end.

Don't you believe Obama? Everything is better now!!!!!
