If we are still expecting the on a to give a crap, we all need to wake the he'll up. Our president, whom we haven't voted in for over a decade, is not concerned with our problems. There is an active shooter in Orlando right now. Yet our chief thinks having an average of 9 to 10 cops for the whole city is a good idea. Stay safe brothers and sisters, as safe as possible under the current conditions. And if you are relatively new, do yourself a favor, start applying to other agencies.

Umm first off, the standoff in Orlando has nothing to do with how many officers are on patrol in the City of Sarasota and yes, an active shooter situation could occur here as in anywhere else. As we all are aware though, something like that is very hard to prevent. If someone wants to start shooting up people at the Southgate Mall, having more officers in zone 2 & 3 wouldn't do squat.

Perhaps 90 percent of the time, 9 or 10 cops can handle the calls in srq. But those times when the crap hits the fan are the times we should be preparing for. Most of us will never fire our gun in the line of duty, but we try to be prepared just in case. Not to mention, the fact that there is little to no self initiated activity. We used to have a very proactive approach to law enforcement. Now, we are stretched so thin that we are only reactive. Let's not forget that hour of walking and talking. 10 cops, each doing an hour of foot patrol, is ten hours of someone not covering a zone. It's not a safe environment, period.

Whoa, I hope you are on my shift. You sound like a real badass. But, of course, this is the internet, and tough guys are born in their mommies basements. A person makes an intelligent statement about the current problems with our low numbers, and you are so tough, that you somehow equate it to a fractured vagina. Not very politically correct, but still, really badass. Perhaps you should find a new career if you think that you have such a large pair, that you can do the job all by yourself. And I guarantee, I have a pair, and if you would like show how tough you are, comment with who you are, and I will come speak to you in person about these problems. Or, hide behind your anonymity on the internet, make your tough guy threats, and be a keyboard warrior, with poor officer safety.
