Re: 2013 banquet
As a city of Clearwater citizen, are you telling me that after a 30 day suspension, these officers were promoted?

First time ever attended the banquet. Yes, it was a bit Frat Party meets Real Housewives meets Reno 911, but I have to say what a lovely and classy group of officers, wives and girlfriends that my husband and I had the pleasure of sitting with at our table.
Luckily God (or alcohol) shielded (or made me oblivious) to some of the craziness going on. After reading some of these comments, I wonder was I at the same party? It was at the Marriot in Sand Key right?
Thank you to the organizers of the event, job well done. If I may make only one suggestion: please make sure there plenty of water available. They ran out of water at the hospitality bar! Yikes! Feeding all these people copious amounts of alcohol and no water - not a good mix.
Overall good event, if you stay away from the insanity. Next year, I’ll make sure to bring a water bottle with me and a video camera! Who needs realityTV?

Re: 2013 banquet
What happened to the brotherhood? You complain behind the scene, but don't have the courage to do so face to face. Anonymity is a problem on sites like this, allowing cowards to hide behind their computers, and leverage complaint/accusations about others. I would have thought that if one of our brothers has had a little too much to drink and is acting in a manner that is offensive to others, then someone would have intervened and removed him from the scene. The term “got your back” has a whole new meaning at CPD. It’s become a RATS nest. Cry babies who have been passed over looking for redemption on the backs of guys that have worked hard their whole careers. This is a whole new breed that feel the need to air all of their dirty laundry on face book, LEO affairs, etc… If this department does find itself in a position of being taken over by a larger agency you will provide the ammo to make it happen.

SO IF YOU CARED- REALLY CARED- YOUD WANT THIS DEALT WITH-AND EXPOSED- AND CORRECTED. UNLESS YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM AND CONCUR WITH ALL THE EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITY.

Point taken. There has always been suspect choices for management positions. Same as it was years back. That said, it seems everyone is quick to throw each other under the bus. I guess it's a different time, with a different crew. Just remember if you do get a promotion, the same will be said of you. Good luck.

sorry Re: 2013 banquet
I posted on this thread in the heat of the moment and now regret it. My apologies to everyone as when we vent on this forum it hurts people's feelings and just looks bad for all of us. Must stay away from this place. Be safe and take care - after its all said and done the health and safety of our officers and their families is all that truly matters. And yes we will go to the banquet next year because no matter what, we will support each other in our accomplishments.
