Re: Ask the PBA
Hope this is true. It's been a long 6 years with nothing but a pay CUT.

Yep it looks like the Teamsters with all their big talk didn't get anything extra for their state people.

Re: Ask the PBA
Update: Senate and House budget conference agreed over the weekend to pay raises
This weekend the Florida Senate and the Florida House of Representatives worked out the differences between the two chambers' respective budget proposals. The outcome of these negotiations finalized the pay raise for the PBA bargaining units. PBA lobbyists David Murrell and Ken Kopczynski worked throughout the weekend to secure a raise for State Law Enforcement Officers, Florida Highway Patrol, and FDLE Special Agents. Please keep up with the process by following our email alerts.
Here's the conference's pay raise proposals:
The budget has a 3% extra increase for State Law Enforcement Officers, Florida Highway Patrol, and FDLE Special Agents with less than 5 years of service and a 5% extra increase for officers with 5 or more years of services. This is on top of the across the board pay raise (see below).
The conference proposes an across the board pay raise for all state employees:
The proposed budget contains an across the board $1,400 raise for all state employees making less than $40,000 a year. Those employees making $40,000 or more a year will get a $1,000 across the board pay raise.
The budget proposal also has a $600 merit bonus pay for up to 35 percent of each agency.
This negotiated proposal is subject to full legislative approval by the end of the week.
Thank you and stay safe.

Re: Ask the PBA
We were the only and last state government employees to get a pay raise. It was in 2008 and it was a full 5%. Now this significant raise in 2013. Hard to argue that PBA isn't the most effective bargaining outfit when it comes to bargaining with the state.

Re: Ask the PBA
Matt,
Please clarify....
For example, a Trooper with 7 years on the job making less than $40,000 will receive a $1,400 pay raise and also an additional 5 % on top of that? My question is whether the 5% is added before or after the $1,400 bonus. Thank you!
