There are other issues in the budget that may put more money into your pockets. We are still waiting to learn all of the details as the legislative leaders continue to negotiate the final budget.

We will email out updates throughout the next few days so please stay tuned.

Since you went there, how about a hint of what the other possible "more money"?

He is probably talking about some bonus plan all state employees will be involved with where only some people get it.

The Legislature finalized the collective bargaining issues at impasse late last night.

    The following issues were resolved:
    1) 5% across the board pay raise for all state law enforcement officers, FHP and FDLE Special Agents. The raise will go into effect on June 30, 2014.

    2) No increases to employees' health insurance premiums.

    3) No increases to employee's contribution for the FRS (remains at 3%).

    4) No changes to the current use of accrued special compensatory leave.

The final budget will be voted on Friday.

Why didn't they just simply say 5% across the board pay raise for all state law enforcement officers - period? Why was FHP and FDLE Special Agents singled out? Is it to make sure everyone knows that FDLE Special Agents are state law enforcement officers? I guess that's why AG, FWC and DOT MCC (before they came over to us) had "State Law Enforcement Officer" plastered on the back of their vehicles.

Because FDLE are investigators, FHP are insurance agents / meter maids with guns, and the rest of us are state law enforcement officers. They wanted the legislature know that you guys are LEO's like us!
