    Re: DEP OFFICEERS

No thanks. We have enough gun waving nut balls out there already. The wackos are screaming about losing gun rights when in fact they have more gun rights now then they ever have. COPs are not even allowed to ask people if they have a gun without offending their "Rights". The fear mongers are just whipping up a 'They want to take our guns' frenzy in order to get you to vote for the same jerk politicians who want to cut your jobs, pay and benefits.

    Re: DEP OFFICEERS

That is not true. There is a direct effort to incrementally destroy the second amendment in this country. It's too bad you think the way you do. You are obviously blind to reality. It is the right of citizens to have firearms. I think it is great that people are armed especially when I check them. However, I have met many in law enforcement who think people should not own or have access to firearms. You are the type of person who will only see the truth when it is too late.

Sure. And Obama was born in Africa. All Democrats are Communists and serve Satan.
We don't have jobs because Mexicans come to America to pick Tomatoes. Everyone should buy fifty guns they cannot afford and invest in over priced gold and start a survival goat farm. Rash Limbaugh gets paid $$$$ 400 million dollars to sell this BS to ignorant trailer trash ( poor Glen Bunk is only worth 82 million ) . Get a brain and then get a life.

    Get a Brain,
If you are a law enforcement officer then you swore an oath to uphold and defend the constitution. If you do not think an infringement upon the 2nd Amendment is wrong then maybe you should consider another profession. The organization doesn't advocate fear mongering or any of the things you suggest in your post. We do not advocate listening to one talk show host over another. We are simply trying to build a grassroots organization to hold politicians accountable. If they go the other way then we will actively campaign to have them removed from office through political action. If you are an FWC officer then I would think you have a healthy respect for keeping and bearing firearms. To others on this site please do not listen to posts like the one from Get a Brain. We are simply trying to stop the assault on the 2nd Amendment through professional measures. Thanks.

    Re: DEP OFFICEERS

What you simply are is an opportunist looking to make a little $$$$ by playing on the fears of the ignorant. Yes I am a COP and a gun owner and a hunter and an Army veteran.
What I am not is an irrational ignorant redneck who is afraid of my own government.
Nobody is going to take away our guns and if I thought they were I would join the NRA who has real power and not your little group of gun nut anarchists. Faux and Glen Bunk come on TV every night to scare uneducated trailer trash into voting for extreme right wing millionair Republicans who could not care less if these dumb rubes live or die after they get their vote. These are the same Republicans who demand more school security while cutting Police budgets , pay and benefits. They are out for themselves just like you are.

    Cash$,

We are not seeking money or fame. We agree with many of your comments about politicians on both sides being unaccountable to the people. We are simply trying to preserve the 2nd Amendment and the Constitution.

    ned, he

I don't know where Obama was born, but he still hasn't produced a birth certificate, so as far as I'm concerned, he's not a citizen. Democrats aren't communist, but many are socialist, especially the far-lefters like Obama. The far-right Republicans are almost fascist, so that really isn't any better, though.

You bring up the rhetoric about the Mexican migrants, Limbaugh, and Beck, and relate them all to trailer trash mentalities. Obviously, fruit-pickers aren't the reason jobs aren't going to Americans. However, it is the Democratic Party that sees most fit to give all kinds of social security benefits to non-deserving, non-working, foreign and domestic leeches. And if Limbaugh and Beck preach to the "trailer trash", that's OK, because the socialist Dems have almost every other media station and reporter on their side, twisting truths and reporting half of the information.

As for buying fifty guns one can't afford...get real. If someone goes out and spends more than necessary, or more than one can afford, that's a personal problem. No one is saying to buy 50 guns or raise a goat farm. What is being clearly stated is this: We have the right, and we need to protect it.

I swore an oath to protect the constitution, and that I will do. I also know and understand that each of us sworn and civilian alike, has the personal responsibility to protect ourselves and our families. The bad guys will always have guns, so we must make damn sure that the good guys do, too.

    A little history lesson:

    1791 Second Amendment Ratified
It states, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." See U.S. Constitution.
    United States Constitution

    1871 National Rifle Association Founded
Union soldiers Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate found the NRA to "promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis." Civil War Gen. Ambrose Burnside, who was also the former governor of Rhode Island and a U.S. Senator, serves as the organization's first president.

    1934 National Firearms Act
Brought about by the lawlessness and rise of gangster culture during prohibition, President Franklin D. Roosevelt hoped this act would eliminate automatic-fire weapons like machine guns from America's streets. Other firearms such as short-barreled shotguns and rifles, parts of guns like silencers, as well as other "gadget-type" firearms hidden in canes and such were also targeted. All gun sales and gun manufacturers were slapped with a $200 tax (no small amount for Americans mired in the Great Depression; that would be like a tax of $2,525 today) on each firearm, and all buyers were required to fill out paperwork subject to Treasury Dept. approval.

    1938 Federal Firearms Act
Congress aimed this law at those involved in selling and shipping firearms through interstate or foreign commerce channels. Anyone involved in the selling of firearms was required to obtain a Federal Firearms License from the Secretary of Commerce ($1 annual fee). They were also required to record the names and addresses of everyone they sold guns to and were prohibited from selling to those people who were convicted of certain crimes or lacked a permit.

    1968 Gun Control Act
The assassination of John F. Kennedy, who was killed by a mail-order gun (I guess that if bought at a gun shop it would have been ok) that belonged to Lee Harvey Oswald, inspired this major revision to federal gun laws. The subsequent assassinations of Martin Luther King and presidential candidate Robert Kennedy fueled its quick passage. License requirements were expanded to include more dealers, and more detailed record keeping was expected of them; handgun sales over state lines were restricted; the list of persons dealers could not sell to grew to include those convicted of felonies (with some exceptions), those found mentally incompetent, drug users and more. The act also defined persons who were banned from possessing firearms.

The key element of this bill outlawed mail order sales of rifles and shotguns; Up until this law, mail order consumers only had to sign a statement that they were over 21 years of age for a handgun (18 for rifle or shotgun); it also detailed more persons who were banned from possessing certain guns, including drug users, and further restricted shotgun and rifles sales.

Enforcement of the Gun Control Act was given to the Dept. of the Treasury's Alcohol and Tobacco Tax Division of the Internal Revenue Service. The organization replaced "tax" with "firearms," nearly doubled in size, and became the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF).

1986 Law Enforcement Officers Protection Act
Drug Wars of the 1970’s and 80’s
Made it illegal for anyone to manufacture or import armor piercing ammunition, or "cop-killer bullets," which are capable of penetrating bulletproof clothing.
    Firearms Owners' Protection Act
Eased restrictions on gun sellers and the sale of some guns. Imposed additional penalties for persons using a firearm during certain crimes and persons with robbery or burglary convictions who are illegally shipping guns.

    1990 Crime Control Act

1994 Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act
Brought about after the shooting of President Ragan with a handgun.
Imposed, on an interim basis, a five-day waiting period and background check before a licensed gun importer, manufacturer or dealer can sell or deliver a handgun to an unlicensed individual.

Required a new National Instant Criminal Background Check System, run by the FBI, be ready to replace the waiting period by Nov. 30, 1998. The new background check system will apply to all firearms and will allow checks to be done over the phone or electronically with results returned immediately in most cases.
Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act
Commonly referred to as the "Assault Weapons Ban," this bill banned the manufacture, possession, and importation of new semiautomatic assault weapons and large-capacity ammunition feeding devices (or magazines) for civilian use.

Criteria for semiautomatic assault weapons that fall under the ban are provided as well as a list of 19 specific firearms.

Prohibits juveniles from possessing or selling handguns and directs the attorney general to evaluate proposed and existing state juvenile gun laws.

2013 President Obama Proposes Sweeping Changes to Gun Control
In response to recent massacres, including the killing of 20 first graders in Newtown, Conn., and 12 moviegoers in Aurora, Colo., President Barack Obama introduces proposals to tighten gun-control laws. His plan includes universal background checks for gun sales, the reinstatement and strengthening of the assault weapons ban, limiting ammunition magazines to a 10-round capacity, and other measures.

    Guess Who?

As you can see, restrictive gun legislation has been enacted after some violent event that has created public mass hysteria. There is a particular group that stands out.
    I report; you decide.

I would like to start by saying that I don’t have a dog in this fight.
Having said that, neither party, Democrats or Republicans are the parties they were 30 years ago.
Both parties seem to have gone to the extremes, be left or right and we are a nation at an impasse. The future does not look good to me, and I am probably older than both of you and seen a lot.
I do feel that we have way too much government intervention in our private lives. I don’t care if you buy 50 fishing reels, a 500 HP Camaro or a tricked out diesel truck with a Bully-Dog propane injection. Please buy a house on 50 acres, raise goats if you want and buy all the gold that you want, it’s your right as an American. It is also my right to collect guns, stamps, knifes or whatever else I happen to fancy at the moment.
We all live with different perceptions of reality. Those perceived realities dictate our actions and our beliefs.
Thank you for your service to our Nation, but I reserve the right to disagree with you and your tone
