    Re: Playstation Probation

I meant a link to where the Legislature has made it clear that they don't care if Officers break statute... not to the article about the stolen Playstation!

Corrections officer charged with theft of gaming system

Tranell L. Smith, charged with grand theft and official misconduct. (Broward Sheriff's Office,…)

    November 1, 2012

What a stupid idiot! He is toast!

FORT LAUDERDALE — A state corrections officer is accused of stealing a PlayStation 3 entertainment system during a search of a Pompano Beach home.

Tranell L. Smith, 37, of Coconut Creek, supervises offenders on probation and has worked for the Florida Department of Corrections since 2007.

Smith was acting in an official capacity with the Broward Sheriff's gang unit Wednesday during the search of a house on the 200 block of Northwest 15th Court in Pompano Beach.

    Secretary Tucker, Teamsters, PBA, Anyone????
So the probation officer, who does not have anything to do with how cases are assigned to them, is in violation if their caseload exceeds a statutory maximum and should be arrested? Hum? Maybe it should the supervisors that assign the cases. But then again there is nothing in statute that makes it a criminal offense if DOP, Specialist, and CC officers are above their statutory recommended limits! Yes recommended limits. Statute says should but no must!

It's not unusual for very low paying jobs to attract criminals. I'm surprised more don't get busted.

So pay equals integrity and morality? How low was his pay? What should their payscale have been? At what threshold should they have been paid more?

It's "Word Majic", lest not you be fooled by it.
The 2 words are interchangeable, for example: "You should not commit rape or murder because it is against the law and if convicted you will go to prison" VS. "In order to avoid being convicted of rape or murder and going to prison you must not commit those crimes"! :?
