Marlins Reduced Police Directing Traffic around Stadium!

A red Dodge minivan jumped the curb and plowed into a Georgia family as they walked on a Little Havana sidewalk after leaving the Marlins game Saturday night, killing four family members and the van driver.

The dead include a 13-year-old girl, a 14-year-old boy, a 50-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl, police said. The victims’ names were not immediately available.

The accident happened about 7:30 p.m. in front of an apartment building at 1760 NW Seventh St., about a block west of Marlins Park. Fans were still streaming out of the stadium after the 4:10 p.m. game had ended in a victory for the Marlins over the Philadelphia Phillies.

It appeared the driver, who was in his 50s, may have suffered a heart attack or another health problem as he drove east along Northwest Seventh Street, police said. Before hitting the family, the man rammed through metal handrails that line the apartment building’s entrance.

He hit the family on the sidewalk near the entrance to the building’s parking garage. A younger man on a bicycle was also struck, but police said he was not seriously injured.

Neighbors said they heard the impact of the crash from inside their homes in the neighboring block. Then they heard the screams.

“I think it was the grandfather who kept screaming and screaming,” said one neighbor, Osvaldo Romero.

Miami police Sgt. Keandra Simmons said paramedics treated a distraught elderly man at the scene but did not know whether he was the children’s grandfather.

More than an hour after the crash, the van remained at the scene, surrounded by blood and broken glass. Its front was smashed when it hit the side of the parking garage and came to a

The Marlins and the polititions don't give a rats azz they made money on that stadium deal and are going to continue to rape the benifets for years to come while the employees and the citizens get stuck with the bill. Only in the bannana republic of Miami.

Think about it the city of miami gave the marlins free land insuring they would profit millions of dollars. The city in return chooses to make up their deficit on th backs of the employees. Now they risk the safety of the citizens to make an extra buck.

The lack of Parking was Regalado's thing. He wanted the people around the stadium to keep their parking business. Only now, it is April throught sept. barring a playoff season. 1-3 games a week. Add up the money.

It is like this. All the family's lawyers have to do is get the city's records of how many cops worked the traffic after the Orange Bowl and how many the stadium has now. It is the stadium who sets the number of traffic cops, not the police dept. One of Joe Robbery, yes I know it is Robbi, hates, was our time and a half. But the cheapo tried to end in every new contract to pay the cops less than time and a half. The question is, what happened to the driver. She had a heart attack, it is an act of God. DUI driver, they didn't have enough cops to catch her before she killed the family. No mater what, it will not bring the victims back.
