***The aging but popular Kennedy Community Center, home to everything from Pilates classes to Scout meetings, will soon be demolished to make way for a new center that may cost as much as $2 million, Plantation leaders agreed this week.
The 3-2 vote came Wednesday, nearly two hours into a debate over whether to build a new center or spend $1.2 million replacing the center's defective roof. Repairing the 49-year-old roof would have cost an estimated $290,000.
"I think repairing it is throwing good money away," Mayor Diane Veltri Bendekovic said. The city has $2.1 million from a 2003 bond that could help pay for the new building, she noted.
Councilmen Ron Jacobs, Bob Levy and Pete Tingom voted in favor of the new center while Councilwomen Sharon Moody and Lynn Stoner voted against it.***

This is the reason the FOP is full of crap and lets the city crap all over the agency. We take cuts and this and that get increased but the City is going to build a new building...

Last time we checked, we were still in contract negotiations and haven't given anything up except things that are permitted per the contract.

What's the official version of how sad the financial affairs are for the city? Some things never change, 10 million plus or minus 6 million. What is clear is they have no clue!
