Police Olympics

I'm attending the Police Olympics this year and although partially sponsored by my agency, I'm not fully sponsored.... Looking for a LEO or LEO family in the area to stay 6/17-6/24 while I compete. The hotels call it a "deal" at $100 a night who are listed on the official sponsor website, yet Hampton Inn is like $50 a night.... I don't know the area and really don't want to end up in the hood (if there even is one) as I just want to compete and go home. I would commute, but I come from the west coast of Florida in the Tampa area. I did know a retired Lt from your agency, but I can't seem to find his number as it has been about 7 years since I spoke with him. Any help or recommendations to decent hotels which are blue friendly are much appreciated.
