What is FHP's policy when it comes to marijuana use?
This subject approached me asking what's our policy on drug use before applying to the academy. I simply told him he might have a chance, but he needs to keep in mind that he will be competing with all the applicants who have never used any drugs; so I just told him to finish getting his Bachelor degree. Yet, the majority of today's teenagers have been exposed to some type of drug. Anyone like myself who was honest with the Polygraph examiner?

I told him to finish his education, don't get in trouble, and quit smoking.

Well, I figured it would be a bad idea to tell a kid to keep doing something illegal when he is trying to fulfill his dream.

You can be a cocaine user now and be a Florida State Trooper. It used to be an auto disqual. You can have DUI's too. The standards have gone way way down since I was hired. For the salary we're paying, I guess we can't be too picky.

I understand your point. But, you can't let the kid thinks he can still continue with such behavior then apply with our agency. It is sad how FHP's standard has gone down the drain. The pay is the number one reason, of course.

All the staff in Tallahassee using or smoking something what else is the explanation for how crappy they're supervisory ability and policies. Smoke a joint everything will seem better especially for everyone in Troop-F.
