    Front line Supervisors

My Sgt will be leaving in the next few months. He is one of the last really senior Sgts still here. We chatted a lit bit about what was happening around here and he had this to say, upper management almost never meets with them, The decision making is done further up the chain and even the Lts are losing their atonomy to run their squads and shifts. All of the responsibilites are still there but very little descretion or input is asked or granted. He thinks this has caused especially the younger Sgts to get closer to the troops and less willing to correct and enforce rules and regulations unless someone tells them to. This place is run by the Sgts and Lts and when this layer doesnt do their jobs the whole place suffers, kinda what we are seeing......

Thats a valid point. But the problem is that the sergeants ignore problems. Big problems. Maybe that style has brought us to what we are. Ever think of that? Look at North Mids for a great example of what is wrong here. Lazy topped out deputies making 10% to sit on their asses and do nothing.

Great observation. Way to many of the Sgts today are protecting their people instead of correcting their people. How does ND Mids happen if the Sgts and Lt are paying attention to whats going on. How does N/B problems get out of hand if Sgts and Lts are doing their jobs.

But hey, take a test and do good and you too can be a Sgt. Last few SGT promotions are proof of that. Turds that are nothing getting promoted!
