    Couple questions

Hey quick couple questions for those in the know.

How long is the hiring process ?

If you go to a certain park how long are you stationed there until you can transfer to another?

Is the FWC merge a done deal and how will that affect question 2?

The hiring process can be as short as 2 months and as long as a year depending on how fast they want to fill a position. Mine took 3 months, some officers told me their's was much longer.
If you are assigned to a park, you can request a transfer through your LT. Things such as vacancies, how busy a park is, and others can affect the request. A captain over a district has the authority to reassign a position.
The merger is still in legislation, but it looks like a done deal. Initially, there will probably be few changes. A year after the merger, it is anyones guess. A lot will depend on the changes FWC leadership wants to make and then the pushback from the parks and DEP over any unwanted changes.

    Re: Couple questions

You do not want to work at Oleda in Dade County. It is very busy on the weekends and then your Lt.will have you taping gas reciepts and plain paper like a 2nd Grader.Been their, what a joke.Esp for 30000.00 a year.

Thanks for the heads up. Anyone else out there with experience at one of these places.
Also you said busy weekends, how do the shifts work? Rotating weekends or what?

    Re: Couple questions

Shifts are 10 hours ,4 days a week with set days off.Oleda is very busy in reference to people drinking, traffic issues and vehicle smash and grabs. If you don,t mind doing paper all day,you may like it.You are alone their,LE wise, except for emergencies of course.Very good Lt.assigned to Park Police and good Officers on squad also. But they are short staffed and the state pay is so bad and will get worse.

Interesting: the other poster had nothing good to say about the Lt.

    Keep in mind the following.
    1. One of the posters doesn't appear to work there anymore and it may be a different LT
    2. The paperwork we do is at the end of month only while many agencies do theirs daily or weekly.
    3. There were changes and clarification this past year that minimized some of the paperwork.
    4. If the merger goes through, all is subject to change including duties and supervisor

    Re: Couple questions

Thanks so much for all ya'lls help. Has anyone worked the Bay county area before ? Also I was wondering is there a list anywhere of which parks have DEP LEOs at them ?

Also I see the county is mentioned and then the park. Are you responsible for only that park or a bunch in that area ? Sorry for all the questions but I am curious.

    Thanks again
