The sheriff's of Florida only have constitutional powers to maintain a County jail, serve processes of the courts and maintain security at the county court house. All other power is given by legistative act. Those powers are vested by FSS as follows

    State
    County
    Municiple

Oh and if your gonna bring up the Sheriff is the Chief law enforcement officer please read the constitution and if your really lazy you can google it. that law has not existed since the early 70s. Sheriff is the chief timber agent tho in his county. Just keeping the facts straight.

Don't forget the Key West Police Dept. They too made a pretty good resource case a couple days ago. You do remember resource violations don't you FWC ? What a waste of tax money.

Give it up flamer. FWC Officers are not jealous when other agencies help enforce resource laws. We welcome their help.

Item- Metro Dade Fire catches (another) python. FWC is the angency charged by law to handle wildlife, yet National Park, US Geo.traps, US Fish& Wildlife monitors, and local police and fire repeatedly respond and handle them. This is after the FWC failed to limit the pythons releases and movements.

Item- Broward Co. rescues airboaters (again) from glades, in a FWC conservation area.

Item- Monroe Co. S.O. makes largest crawfish trap robbing case in years.

Item- USCG continues to (as well as Sea Tow) respond to boat accidents and call FWC out!

and on and on and on. What a complete waste in South Fla.

So when an FWC Officer slam dunked and arrested a woodland arsonist earliar this year in South A . Did the AG Investigators and SO Deputies get jealous. No. They loved it.
We all work together out here and you are just a flamer who either got fired or could not get hired. Get a life.

Sorry, I was watching Metro Fire's TV program about wildlife calls they respond to everyday! I missed your post. I see the USCG is airing a program about their efforts in South Florida. Sea Tow beat FWC to two Sig. 4's and a fire, again. ONE arson case- really, is there a sense of proportion here ?

    Re: Monroe SO

Reason why a single Statewide Agency is needed, 1 agency with divisions solves alot of problems, look at Texas perfect example. Sheriffs are not the fix by any means since theres no such thing as a State Sheriff and for good reason.
