It doesn’t. Except LE should only be responding to serious crimes, civil unrest etc. otherwise...be ready to be sick as he!!. And then what will happen when entire squads are sick?

Patrol deputies are canaries in the cave: First do drop!
You're dispatched to a domestic dispute. Upon your arrival, both occupants admit that they're under self-quarantine, due to both of them exhibiting coronavirus symptoms (fever, coughing, etc). She has physical marks on her (from being battered).
QUESTIONS:
- Do you arrest an infected corrnavirus suspect and place him in your patrol car and transport him to the jail? If you arrest him, then you have to touch him, which could infect you. If you place him in your patrol car, then you could get sick by breathing in a tiny confined space with him.
. - Do you place the infected victim in your patrol car and transport her to SPARCC?
. - Do you leave them together, since they are both already quarantined - and you don't want to become inflected by touching either of them and/or by placing placing either of them in your patrol car?
Firefighters say that patrol officers are their canaries. When firefighters see first responding officers dropping, then that's their cue to don their protective gear!

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Leave them there. In a pandemic, LE shouldn’t even be responding to domestics. Civil unrest, looting, rioting and enforcement of quarantines only. This is something never experienced before....and the “traditional” way of doing things won’t cut it.

If you're doing your job, then it's impossible to implement "social distancing." For example, you can catch Cornavirus if you are in a confined space with an infectee in:
- An interview room.
- A patrol car
- A jail pod
- At the front desk of the records section to get a copy of a report
- In an elevator to go up to the SAO on the 3rd floor
- In a courtroom for traffic court hearings
Projections are that 50 to 70% of the population will have it (or have had it) within the next 35 days. First responders are not exempt from this projection. In fact, first responders will be first catchers, along with health care professionals. So to answer your question, "social distancing" does not work for patrol officers.
