A Detroit police officer is reportedly listed in serious condition after being hit by a car early Saturday morning.

Oct. 22, WDIV-TV: “The officer was investigating the scene of a critical pedestrian accident on Livernois and Pelouze St., police said.

“Police were investigating an accident involving a woman walking across the street when she was struck by a car.”

According to the television station, Dearborn Police with the help of a K-9 unit arrested an intoxicated 25-year-old white man from Dearborn Heights in connection to the incident.

The suspect is expected to face DUI and fleeing the scene of an accident charges.

The officer, who is expected to survive, is at least the second Detroit police officer to recently be hit by a vehicle.

In June, Officer Charles Armour died a week after being hit by a car in Greektown. Saddam Mohsin, 30, of Buffalo, N.Y., currently faces numerous charges for the incident, including first-degree murder, murder of a police officer, failure to stop at an accident scene resulting in serious impairment or death and reckless driving causing death.
