How do you stop a random act at a random place and a random time?

Uh, how many crimes did your god Ronnie Smack stop as sheriff ? Now I don't mean commit, like deer poaching , extorting businesses, etc., I mean stop ? How many calls did he answer except the every morning distress signal from the Homestead Kitchen for somebody to stop the crime of breakfast rotting ?

Well Mr. Fantastic, I believe you are jumping on the wrong person. I am responding to the previous poster that suggests the Sheriff is suppose to have prevented a murder from happening and my question was, "How do you prevent a random act?". I am no fan of RM and I am defending our boss. I challenge anyone to come up with a reasonable answer for the prevention of a murder (in an unsolicited, lack of knowledge crime). This should be an interesting answer since some people actually think that a Sheriff or Chief of Police can prevent this from happening and yet our ENTIRE government couldn't prevent a large airplane full of passengers from flying 1,500 miles and crash into the World Trade Center! So some feeble citizen who suddenly has become afraid (i was more concerned when RM was Sheriff since his deputies were committing more shootings and tasering than anywhere in Florida) because there are murders and rapes here in redneck Pensacola, just as these crimes are occurring all across the country. Wake up clueless, we have crack cocaine, meth labs, rapes, shootings, stabbings, robberies and child molesting EVERY day in our county. We have had all of this before RM's dictatorship, during his reign of terror and power abuse and it continues. Why do you think some ordinary man can walk into an office and suddenly prevent things? It has nothing to do with our training unless the training for mind-reading is in your thoughts. You really have opened your mouth and it makes you sound even more like an idiot, sorry.

The number of syphilis cases in Escambia County has reached a 30-year high, county health officials reported Monday.

Syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection, has affected at least 69 people in 2011, equaling last year's total number of cases. That's a 176 percent increase over historical averages of 25 syphilis cases a year from 2005 to 2009.

The statistics show:

» One-third of the people affected are residents of the 32503 ZIP code.

» Most are heterosexual women between 20 and 25 years old and heterosexual men of the same age group.

» The majority of the men are black.

To put the number of syphilis cases in perspective, there also were 1,655 cases of chlamydia and 527 cases of gonorrhea in 2010, said Dr. John Lanza, Escambia County Health Department director.

"We're seeing syphilis cases in heterosexual men and women ages 20 to 34, and three cases of people 15 to 19 years old, which is almost unheard of," Lanza said. "In South and Central Florida, cases of syphilis usually are homosexual males more than 34 years old."
