You NEED to know how your union dues are being expended by the PBA
In 2010 and 2011 in Coconut Creek Florida the PBA has hired private investigators to follow around, photograph and harass fellow police officers in good standing who are also PBA dues paying members. The Officers are witnesses in an arbitration against a former officer who is being represented by the PBA.
To make matters worse, the PBA hired 2 former police officers as private investigators, one who was convicted by a jury for filing false police reports and whose conviction was upheld by an Appeals Court. The second private investigator is a former HPD officer who was arrested and awaiting trial for framing a citizen in the now famous “Disney Production” DUI case in Hollywood Florida.
Our Union Dues are being utilized against our own members and we are paying dishonest ex cops to investigate our own.
There is something really wrong going on.

I just found out that the PBA President makes $180,000.00 from our dues money. He makes this over and above his MDPD salary. Plus a car we pay for and gas when he can get a free take home from the county. The guy under him makes $135,000.00 from our dues money and he too gets a car and gas paid by us. Other PBA officials get $50,000.00 each and there are four of those folks. All this paid by our dues.
And what do we get in return? NADA
We should seriously consider switching to IUPA or something but after reading this thread I’m disgusted.

Lighthouse Point PD is having a PERC election this month to leave the PBA for IUPA, Hallandale is collecting cards to leave the PBA for IUPA and so on. Switch to IUPA, control your own union and have labor attorneys (not cops) at the bargaining table. The PBA has been bragging about how unhappy BSO is with IUPA for a year. Only to find out the membership is not unhappy and refused to sign cards for the PBA to get an election. The PBA was embarrassed about this and forged cards for members to get an election anyway but Tallahassee saw right through the fraud and through out the petition submitted by the PBA. The union hall will be in foreclosure soon.

Hialeah Gardens is not even a real police department. You are all rejects that were not qualified to work for one of the big agencies. The PBA does not care if you all switch to another union.
