    Re: Dispatch

Venice alone paid more than $1 million in overtime and "special pay" last year, continuing a trend that stretches back several years even as the city's tax revenue has declined by millions and there are fewer employees on the payroll.

One Venice dispatcher made $50,000 in overtime — more than her base salary of $46,000.
Venice's police dispatch office has among the most well paid jobs.

Dispatcher Rebecca Irving earned about $96,000 last year — $50,000 in overtime, more than any other city employee. Irving collected so much in overtime pay that her pay for the year was more than the entire City Council combined. Four other dispatchers earned an average of $19,000 in overtime, boosting their pay to about $60,000.

City officials said they have had trouble finding qualified people who can pass a background check to fill two open jobs.

Having DISPATCH CONSOLIDATE WITH SARAOSTA WILL SAVE THE CITY SO MUCH MONEY , THE SARASOTA SHERIFF pays the SALARY , AND WE (VENICE ) can hire 3-4 receptionist to work the desk much cheaper. We will still have a Venice police dept, that doesnt change/ Saraosta already does the fire and rescue calls for vencie
