Somebody must be really bored to revive an 8 year old thread from the dead.

Detective Frank Peñate is not a Sergeant nor a Lieutenant. His civil service rank is that of “Police Officer.” He is currently a Detective assigned to the Professional Compliance Bureau. A fancy term for Internal Affairs. He is legit as far as the original question goes. And by legit, I mean a real sworn police officer. Prior to his current IA stint, he spent the majority of his career in CID, mostly in the Burglary Unit. Also, did a few years in the Soecial Victims Unit. He was also a SWAT Operator for almost 20 years. His ribbon bar is the real deal with the ribbons that matter earned on that chest.

The previous post is correct, it’s a PR thing and the show is insanely popular in Caribbean countries. So popular that Frank and the other HPD member who also partakes on the show, are treated like movie stars when they visit places like the DR.

Frank is the final lap of his career and just idling by. He does a good job in IA and doesn’t seek to ruin anyone’s career. He just reports back and the outcome is beyond his or anyone’s control.

For a meet & greet with Frank, including an autographed head shot, contact our PIO, the fabulous and dapper Leftenant Eddie Rodriguez at the Office of the Chief of Police.
