    anonymous letter recieved

I’m a writer who’s covered the FAU police department for the last year. I’ve read comments about concerns with the administrative staff and how things are run: (below)

“Their admin get all the perks, take home cars, high salaries, several hour lunches. The list goes on and on.”

“Blame all your problems on the University Administration for allowing Deputy Chief Totten to run the place. I guess the biggest question is, Whos watching the watchmen? There are certainly no checks and balances at this Police Department. Someone really needs to blow the whistle on the place.”

Other comments say officers, other than administration, won’t make any more than their starting pay of $38,000 a year for being an “a glorified security guard with arrest powers.”

Some people are unhappy with the department and recently I’ve received an anonymous letter stating: “You have not even touched the surface.” If anyone would like to contact me anonymously regarding the letter or any of the above comments, feel free to email me at FAUcrimecoverage@gmail.com. Your name will be protected.

When you try to set a trap, it can't be so obvious that a blind person can see it and point it out.

If you are a legitimate crime reporter, why the heck don't you just identify yourself and post your real work email.

This thread points out the root of the problem in any LE agency that is experienceing problems, which in south Florida, seems to be plenty:

Meddlesome administrators with no leadership or police administration abilities attempting to direct and oversee a component they have no understanding of, poor hiring practices that are rife with favoritism, cronyism, nepotisim, and failure to take care of the dedicated, competent people who carry the load despite interference of union leaders who promote an us against them mentality.

Which results in stupid mind game traps like posing as a legitimate investigative reporter using an gmail.com account.

Oh yeah...one more dead giveaway...you misspelled "received" in the subject line.

Screw the emailing and do the discussing right here. Everyone knows about the evil empiring that goes on at the FAU PD. It really sucks for the guys that work there. Once you deal your soul away to the "Angel of Death" as they call Deputy Chief Totten your screwed. Those of us know who those individuals are. Im sorry to tell who ever wrote the tid bit about Brammer, Jones and Freidman your way off base with that one. Brammer and Jones would never get themselves involved in the dirty work that Totten hands out. Freidman is the best Lieutenant you have working their. If you ever talk to him, you definately see he remembers where he came from. He will back you up right or wrong and make it right if you are wrong. Supervisors like him are a thing of the past, the guy even comes in on his days off to help his guys out. Can't say that about any other Lieutenant that works there. When Brammer ran the day to day operations, everything ran smoothly. He shows all the strengths of a true leader. He deligates to the guys he knows can get the job done with little to know guidance and always stands behind your decisions and keeps matters confidential. I have never heard the man gossip about anyone. Jones does as she is told to. She bothers know one and keeps to herself. She does what she is ordered to do. Its too bad know one else sees it this way. Your complaining about the wrong three people.

When Larry Saxon started on his mission, ordered up by the "Angel of Death" to screw with the guys, Brammer got wind of it and came in during off hours to ask the guys what was going on, one by one. Where is Saxon now?

    “Guest”,

You want to talk about second grade reports? If you are even an officer (which I doubt, and I’ll get to that in a minute,) your reports would never pass. Please use spell check and try not to use fragments and run ons as sentences. And it’s pretty bad that if you are a current officer working with us, you would know that scammer Grande is no longer a PBA rep. Either you are a former officer [Schaut] or you are a complete imbecile who has no business putting his two cents in the penny jar. You may have **** and Dumbass as PBA reps, but as far as worst cops in “he” county? Nah, not when you got Jimmy to compare them to.

P.S. I think you wrote both guests posts. There isn’t much traffic on the FAU forum so for someone to come here and write two different posts (both poorly written) in the same day, a couple hours apart is pretty suspicious. Nice work commending yourself.

I can only say how SAD IT IS TO READ THIS POST ON THIS LETTER.

Having worked a long time for 2 PD's in the area I have to comment that this kind of posting is SAD. oBVIOUSLY THE WRITER HAS AN OPINION, APPARENTLY ON EVERYONE AT fau pd.

I'm sure you feel better posting this for how many to read, but remember some will think you're the sour grape or maybe the one who thinks their poop doesn't smell.

Whatever you are or think you are, was this letter really necessary?
One thing I always tried (I'm far from perfect but would never blast it in this type of forum) to remember is you go to work and just worry about yourself and your immediate boss. As long as you're happy with the job you did for that day and you went home safe, that was a win. If you did great work and went out of your way for a victim, contact or friend, even better.

But when you seem so focused on the negatives, all day, about everyone, dude all your looking at is a freaking ulcer! It's not worth it. Why concern yourself with the lunch breaks of others, who's boinkin who etc.....life is more important than that and so's your job!

It would appear that you are convinced nothing will change so why not you look elsewhere. certainly there has to be a better fit for you in another agency nearby. Maybe one with a take home car, better pay and not as much politics or hanky panky.

For those in the profession and certainly the good ones at your agency, stop embarrasing your job and mine. Mind your own business before sticking your nose in everyone elses business. If you do that, you might actually enjoy going to work and taking care of our teachers and students. Some actually appreciate what FAU does.
