two positions were posted today for Florida DEP.

One was for the Lieutenant's position covering SW Florida (Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Citrus, Hernando, West Polk)

One for a state park near Myakka City.

You must live within 50 miles of the position. You are given a taken home vehicle to drive.

The positions can only be found on florida dep (type in Fl DEP in your search engine, go to programs, then law enforcement, then careers)

There are very few positions in Fl Dep and sometimes it takes a long time for positions to open up in certain areas.

Additionally, DEP has a policy in regards to positions: lateral transfers first, promotions second, reservists third, and then new hires.

Florida Dept of Environmental Protection should be posting some new vacancies within the next week or two. The positions can only be found on the Florida Dept of Environmental Protection website under programs, law enforcement, vacancies.

One of these will be an Officer position for the state parks in Hillsborough County and west Polk County. This position rarely comes open due to the fact there are only two positions in this area. As stated earlier, if you are interested in this position, you should prepare now. The state has a new application form that can be downloaded from the people first site and a supplemental form found on the Fl DEP website.
