New Officers to make more money

Thanks to Governor Scotts new pension plan, starting hires will make more money than a lot of veterans. Why?

Employees currently in the system will have 5% of their salaries removed from their paychecks and put in the FRS to plug the gap of money that Rick Scott is taking out to distribute to his rich buddies. It is MANDATORY and is going to happen.

New hires are being "offered" a 401K plan. It is not mandatory. In fact, if the employee chooses not to participate, then it saves the state money because they do not have to pony up a matching amount.

A current Officer with some time on on will have their salary decreased by 5%. A new hire starts out with no salary decrease if they opt out of the 401K. They will be making more than the veteran who is training them. Even the private sector doesn't do this to their folks.

Yeah, but then they will have to work until they drop dead because they will never be able to retire.

The problem with cops is some of us are lousy with money. Investing is something foreign to some of us and sometimes we just leave it to the wives to handle. Take your heads out of the financial sand guys and learn how to invest and save. The days of buying fifty thousand dollar pick up trucks, boats and all the other toys we like are done. Open up an IRA and contribute the max and stash as much cash away as you can. If you are in the investment plan make sure you are allocated properly because if you are not you will be just spinning your wheels. If you own more then five mutual funds someone has misinformed you on how to allocate. Also the fees of some of the funds will eat you up. Allocate properly, index invest and JUST LEAVE IT ALONE. The worst mistake you can make is f---ing with it in a market down turn. Gotta go good luck.
